Resident Evil 5 Romps to No.1 in Japan on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The latest Media Create sales have been released for the Japanese market, showing Resident Evil 5 has charged right to the top of the charts. The other big new release of the week comes from SEGA and imageepoch in the form of 7th Dragon, a new RPG from the creator of the Trauma Centre and Etrian Odyssey series whilst he worked at Atlus Japan. Elsewhere, Mario & Luigi is on track to beat both its predecessors in the next few weeks, Taiko no Tatsujin is due to become the biggest selling Third Party game on Wii (usurping Square Enix's Dragon Quest Swords), the new DS Crystal Chronicles is trundling along, but struggling to sell through its initial 300,000 units of stock, and Inazuma Eleven is STILL hanging around the Top 30!

Check out all the data below, including how the Wii is well and truly trumped in the hardware stakes this week:

Wow... I thought it would be a lot more than this... guess not. Pokemon manages to sell 500.000+ in a week I thought this would be like that.

I remain unhappy with RE5, very disappointed, I was trying to get over Chris' design, the fact it feels like a war game, etc but the controls on both 360 and PS3 ruined it for me. Here's hoping RE6 will return RE to the horror style.

Do we know if Star Ocean has been restocked in Japan? I seem to remember that is sold close to 90% of its original stock and was wondering how long it takes to restock. I am thinking the low numbers after a strong week are due to a shortage.

Considering that Yakuza 3 sold over 370K last week, I am also surprised that RE5 didn't sell more on the PS3.

Smilie look at them PS3 FLY OUT THE DOOR

It's odd seeing so many japanese players on a 360 leaderboard
