House of the Dead: Overkill Sets Swear Record on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Sega's House of the Dead: Overkill has set a new Guinness World Record in the Gamer's edition, but not for its sales...

UK developer Headstrong has pushed the boundaries of adult-rated content on Nintendo's clean box by setting a record for the most swearing in a video game with 189 different uses of the f-word - about 3% of the entire game's dialogue.

This record category pre-existed for movies, music and television, but House of the Dead: Overkill is the first video game to be awarded the title in the Gamer's Edition. It's a mark of the times.

How did this sell? Apparently a lot of people have it, I hope it sold well I will buy a copy just to support these guys for their effort! Smilie GW headstrong and Sega!

I think it will sell well due to it actually having Adverts.

Anyway, that's a great record to have, I thought NMH and scarface had alot of swearing in them.

I meant overall, it did great in first week sales over here in the UK, 15th in the all format chart I believe, and I'm hoping it will continue to sell well.

Ah! yes yes defo sorry for the misunderstanding lol. ^_^ I Completely Agree, this game needs to sell a ton to show devs that Wii owners like well made games. I have no doubt Madworld should do awesome, however I do want this, The Conduit (if you think about it these guys were smart, by making that claim at the start they drew heaps of attention to their game in development.) among others.

The game is awesome, and mostly for it's hilarious dialogue between G and Washington. It's well worth the record and if a Tarantino-movie may use the word 150 times an hour, so may games. Why not? It fits so totally well!

Go get the game just for it's dialogue!

If we get lucky it may be damned by some christians in USA.

I find your lack of faith disturbing!
