Nintendo Talk DSi Specific Games on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Masato Kuwahara, DSi Hardware project leader, recently talked about specific DSi retail game cards.

Previous press releases and interviews have suggested that DSi-specific retail games will be available, and at GDC it's become official. "Enhanced game cards" will offer developers the opportunity to use some of the specific features - e.g. camera and SD card - in their games.

For example, you will use these features if you want to create textures from photographs taken with the DSi camera. The Inspiration Behind Nintendo DSi Development, that these types of "Nintendo DSi Enhanced" game cards are still in development.

Games can be played on a regular DS/Lite, but specific features will be locked to those with DSi. To avoid alienating a huge number of consumers, it's likely the functionality will be for extras, bonus features, but you never quite know..

Hmmm... I plan on buying one and keeping my DSL for my homebrew needs. Why can't you have both and enjoy? I think the DSi is totally worth the money for what you are getting. I just need to find an audio converter for my MP3s to AAC and I'm all set! Smilie

Which supposedly prevents for any higher capacity game cards for DSi specific games, otherwise it might not be readable by older DSs.

Normal DS game cards arnt limited in size.
128MB is the normal Nintendo supply, but theres been bigger and smaller too.

Just like the GB,GBA etc...the capacity isnt fixed at launch.

Dsiware is a good idea, but its a pisstake

Why?
Looks pretty good to me.
Not enough to get a system in itself, but I dont see whats wrong with it.

Also, cameras most certainly are not pointless.
You just dont understand the potential awesomeness of augmented reality games.
But you will, you all will...Mwhahahaaaa

Sounds pretty good too me but I will prolly only get one when either my DSL breaks or If I have more then £300 in my bank which aint likely atm XD

Nintendo Network ID: LKR000               PSN: LKR000
3DS: 1246-8696-120                              GT: LKR101

"I just need to find an audio converter for my MP3s to AAC and I'm all set!" - iTunes does that Smilie You can prob drag the songs from the library and drop them anywhere else or simply go to your iTunes library folder.

This is interesting, the DSi is tempting more with each passing day Smilie

DSi is tempting, but much too expensive... Liking the sound of DSi extras though, rather than alienation of the DS/DSL audience. (Oracle games played on GBA anyone?)

I meant its a pisstake in the sense of them not justify their pricepoint - to me atleast. Some people will use the cameras and multimedia functions an awful lot but i wont, i use my psp for that. So unless my DS breaks i just can't see me ever getting one, not unless the homebrew capabilites get better and the price drops below £100. The DSiWare thing..whatever its called is a good idea for extras. I remember the E-card reader for pokemon ruby and super mario world etc. If you could use it to get new pokemon..download new levels etc then that would be great. But then im sure they would rape us in points charges.

Still doesn't convince me that I HAVE to have a DSi, but we'll see. If games take advantage of the SD card in order be bigger (e.g. multi-card games, in the style of multi-disc games of olde) that could be interesting, but I'd still have to see what they come out with. Like, if Chrono Cross gets released for DSi, I'm in. But I doubt that's going to happen.

Hey, you can convert MP3's to AAC format if you have iTunes. its in the "Advanced" menu.
