Project Ringo Unveiled as Puyo Puyo on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Sega's teaser for Project Ringo has finally been unveiled as Puyo Puyo 7 for DS, PSP and Wii.

The game is a puzzler that bares a resemblance to Tetris; where you build up a series of coloured blocks known as "puyos" that break down once a group of 4 of the same colour have been lined up, and like in Tetris you can attack other players by stringing together quick combos.

According to the report in Famitsu magazine (via 1up), this version boasts online competition mode and a similar Fever mode known as "transformation", where deflecting attack fills up a power gauge for bigger attacks.

The DS version is due out on July 30th in Japan, with the Wii and PSP ports due in Winter.

Wow all that hype for this? Sheesh.

Well, you can't expect much from Ringo.

It requires great courage to look at oneself honestly, and forge one's own path.

So, it Bejeweled? Smilie

Oh well, it is what it is. I like the Puyo Puyo Series so I hope this one makes it over unlike the last Puyo Pop game on the DS.

Puyo Puyo rules. Much better then Tetris, imho.

But still, this is just daft.
Should just be a WiiWare release. Id have bought that, I certainly wont pay full retail price.

Haha so uhh... Is this another DS to Wii port >.<

.:Zelda Adventures:.
u guys are DNA.

Why would SEGA hype it like that? Especially after 6th gen was just Puyo after Puyo. I liked it when Mean Bean Machine first came out, but I haven't wanted to buy a Puyo game. Then again I'm not much of a puzzler.

Many had already figured out that this was Puyo Puyo 7 a long time ago...glad to see it's finally been confirmed. The DS version of the 25th Anniversary game was a massive hit in Japan, so I'm not surprised to see the DS version of this coming out first.

Hopefully SEGA gives it a chance in the West.
