FFCC: The Crystal Bearers Details on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The latest issue of Famitsu also shed some new details on Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers.

Parts of the story have unfolded with the revealing of a new character - Keiss - a Selkie who takes up a job guarding the Alexis II air ship. He works alongside our protagonist Layle as part of the story - but it seems he may not be playable (i.e. parties can't be formed). There'll also be a female Selkie accompanying the duo, who may just have a thing for Layle.

The article also mentions a few new gameplay mechanics:

  • Playable events - being able to interact during events scenes, e.g. pointing something out or waggling the wii remote around and this will start up an event.
  • Demon Reaction - advanced AI where enemies will interact with your attacks in various different ways, and to each other with a "considerable number of patterns".

There's still no mention of a release date, but with all the coverage in videos and screens of late it's likely to be sometime very soon indeed.

Looks amazing still. Almost cried when rumours suggested it was cancelled. Wii has a lot of titles that lay dormant in development for ages to the point of thinking its cancelled.

Sadness, fragile, little king story. Ok apart from sadness the others are no where near as bad but still. . .I dont think they get the coverage they deserve. I Know more about RE shovelware then these.

Damn and i thought this will be awesome on GC but good greeve they really want the Wii to succeed too, unlike other companies.

When all is bad don't look for a easy way out. Because you wont know what to do once your out

I look forward to this. Me always being a Nintendo-kid I am looking forward to this title as much as to FF XIII. They are more alike then FFCC and FFX were.

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

It's a shame that only Layle will probably be playable. He seems pretty awesome but Clavats are so meh compared to Lilties or Selkies... I'd love an FFCC title where the star was a Lilty. I'm assuming Clavats and Selkies will be the most populous at this point in time :/ Nearly every Yuke died out in a war and a good amount of Lilties probably went too.

QTE similar events sounds good, I hope it's in moderation like RE4 or awesome like Shenmue, otherwise it could get annoying.

I'm more of a Yuke man myself, It's a shame how this game is looking to have no co-op at all, but a healthy solo campaign should make up for that. I wonder why they went with only one playable character and no character customization like in the GC title. I loved creating my job and having a family back home to visit and gaining items from themSmilie

I completely forgot about the job system! Mainly because it's non-existent in the DS games, even though the battle system is much better... except for the picking up and throwing, that's just annoying.

I like Yukes... just not as much as the other races.

    Smilie for me it's Yukes>Selkies>Lilties>ClavatsSmilie

I haven't played the DS versions since I generally don't game on the go as much as I use too. It sucks to hear that the job system is nonexistent in the DS titles though.

    Lilties > Selkies > Clavats > Yukes.

Clavats are pretty much Selkies but more dull (or rather, Selkies are Clavats but less dull) so Yukes would be above Clavats if it weren\'t for awesome characters like Yuri and probably Layle, although Alhanalem is also really awesome >.<, and it must be said that the only recurring villain of the series is a Female Yuke. So far she\'s been in every mainseries (so no MLAAK) game (although her EoT appearance was more of a cameo)

It\'s not a biggie really. Jobs were best for getting materials and scrolls for weapons, which are much easier to get now. They were such a headache to find in the first game.
