I\'ve never played any of the Crystal Chronicles games. Speaking strictly of story and background, what have I missed that helps set this game up?I\'m assuming, based on other comments, certain races of people and such are drawn upon on from the previous games. Feel free to be vague if there is quite a bit of info from the previous games that is relevant here.
The races are what makes you know that it\'s an FFCC title and not just another FF spin off. There are 4 races that live alongside each other in each game.
Clavats: Your average human looking race. All around, good with swords.
Lilties: Usually much shorter than other races, but also much stronger. At one point they ruled the world, and they also killed most of the Yukes in a war sometime before Crystal Bearers (I guess we\'ll find out more about why there was a war later), now in Crystal Bearers the Lilties look pretty damn different. They\'re tall, some of them are huge.
Selkies: Mostly human looking, but much more agile and athletic than Clavats. They believe they came from the sea.
Yukes: Magic users, scientists and scholars. They wear bird like helms so noone knows what they look like underneath (unless they\'re really close, like Yuri and Chelinka are to Al in RoF), and I don\'t believe they can \"breed\" with the other races either, which may have helped in their near extinction
As far as I know, the chronological order of story goes:
Ring of Fates: Rebena Te Ra is a flourishing city, something to do with evil infused Crystals + a religious cult; don\'t wanna spoil too much
Crystal Chronicles: The people lived in a world engulfed in poisonous gas called miasma that comes from a catastrophe sometime before the game starts. Rebena Te Ra, as well as various other towns, are destroyed.
My Life as a King: A young prince looks for a new land to settle in after the miasma is cleared; pretty much right after FFCC.
Crystal Bearers: Probably yonks after everything. Apparantly has a connection with Ring of Fates; I have an idea as to what it is.
I haven\'t the slightest clue where Echoes of Time fits in; it\'s a weird one: Crystals are nearly extinct after a future catastrophe sent shockwaves back in timeand destroyed the age of machinary. Because of that I think it may be some time after Crystal Bearers, which looks like an age of machinary to me. But I can\'t really see any connections to any of the other games. Hopefully we\'ll see where My Life as a Dark Lord fits in too.
Hope that helped a little.
