No More Final Fantasy VII Games for now

No More Final Fantasy VII Games for now on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

During a Japanese screening for a greatly enhanced Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete, series producer Shinji Hashimoto potentially shot down years worth of rumours on a new title for the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII.

...producer Shinji Hashimoto referred to its release as the Compilation's "end for now". While future extensions were not ruled out, it's probably safe not to expect another Crisis Core or Dirge of Cerberus any time soon.

Bittersweet news for Final Fantasy VII fans, but at least we have the greatly enhanced Advent Children Complete to look forward to -- at the same screening, Hashimoto stated that an overseas release is a definite.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete was recently released in Japan, featuring a playable PS3 demo of Final Fantasy XIII, and now it looks like a worldwide release is imminent.

Do fans think this destroys hopes of a Final Fantasy VII remake? Or is there something they're not telling us? Express your thoughts below.

Personaly I find it confusing as Crisis Core and Dirge are spin-offs, not compilations or remakes.

Maybe he thus meant no more spin-offs, rather then no more ports/remakes ?

Or maybe its just a cunning ruse to build up demand more.
Or maybe they dont have the budget to allicate for it.

Not enough info really for us to go on. But I dont personaly think this comment rules it out.

"Advent Children Complete"

Does that mean they have bothered to actualy make a movie from it now, rather then random abstract cutscenes slapped together?

Every Final Fantasy VII project, including retellings, novels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, etc since FFVII\'s release have been put under the \"Compilation of FFVII\" category. If the Compilation is over I highly doubt anything else will come out of the series for a while now. But you\'re right, a remake might not count.

Advent Children Complete is basically a fully updated version of Advent Children, and it\'s got an extra 30 minute anime with it about Denzel (I think). It\'s also got HD Trailers for FFVersusXIII and FFAgitoXIII.

It\'s a shame, I\'d get it if it weren\'t BluRay only.

Oh, thank GOD!!! FINALLY, they're done killing this game. Now all they have to do is re-release the original on PSN, and it can finally rest in peace.

That's happening in Japan, from what I hear.

I still want my before crisis before the end

I'll get the BluRay version when it's released. Smilie

I'd prefer a Final Fantasy 8 or 9 remake as I'm pretty sick of the Final Fantasy 7 universe now. Smilie

I'm not sure this is Nintendo News worthy however seeing as how Final Fantasy VII is pretty much a Sony exlusive franchise. Smilie

I guess this falls under general/industry news then? Smilie I thought it'd be something C3ers would be interested in anyway.

Smilie I think most people here are wishing for a FF5 and 6 remake for DS. Smilie
