Old School RPG Heading to WiiWare on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Japanese developer Poisoft is harking back to the good old days with its RPG 'Order' on WiiWare. It has been revealed that this 'King Simulation' role-player gives gamers the chance to live the life of His Majesty in the Middle Ages, based in what appears to be a European setting, complete with humans, elves, and dwarves. Your task? To bring peace upon the land and prevent the Demon Lord from causing havoc. Similar to how Square Enix's 'My Life as a King' works, heroes will arrive in your kingdom and it is up to you to pick and choose the best candidates to head off into battle with the slew of monsters roaming the land. Some of the 'heroes', however, will take it upon themselves to pillage your royal coffers, so be a close eye needs to be kept on proceedings.

In addition to the volunteering of heroes, the kingdom itself needs to be built up, again not too disimilar to Square Enix's WiiWare debut title from March last year. Schools, weapons shops, churches, casinos, farms and magic research facilities, all of which are useful for increasing your kingdom's political, magic, and educational strengths, can be developed using citizens. Expanding your kingdom to neighbouring lands is also a possibility via invasions, but your neighbours can also attack your kingdom, so sometimes a little diplomacy comes in handy to prevent the constant breaking out of war.

For those with somewhat of a dark side, though, it is possible to follow the Demon Lord rather than go down the peaceful route...

The game is set for release in Japan next month on WiiWare for 1,000 Nintendo Points and the first 2D old school images can be seen in the media folder below.
