Nintendo Confirms Wii Sports Resort EU Date on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo of Europe has today confirmed the date of Wii Sports Resort, plus released more info on the game. This summer Wii gamers will be able to head to a sun-drenched island full of twelve sports that take full advantage of the Wii Remote's MotionPlus add-on.

Featuring action ranging from the adrenaline-filled to the fitness-focused, expect Wii Sports Resort to make waves when it launches across Europe on 24th July, bundled with the brand new Wii MotionPlus accessory.

Wii MotionPlus, which plugs into your existing Wii Remote, gives players an even more immersive, realistic gaming experience. Every sport featured in Wii Sports Resort responds with unprecedented accuracy to your exact angle of your arm. Every movement you make with your wrist or arm will be rendered identically in real time on the screen.

Never before have so many sports been so accurately modelled to experience in the comfort of your own home! If you're a thrill-seeker, you should head straight for Wuhu Islands' beautiful coast and try out some power cruising, wakeboarding or canoeing, either on your own or with friends. And, when the adrenaline is really pumping, climb aboard the island's seaplane and take to the skies for a spot of parachute-based air sports action...

Sometimes, the competitive streak in us all needs answering - and that's what table tennis and basketball courts were invented for! Every last bit of spin will be faithfully mirrored in the former, and with Wii MotionPlus that surprise backhand is now perfectly possible, while there's nothing more satisfying than besting your friends in a classic basketball three-point challenge.

Or perhaps you fancy a test of real skill and precision? If so, then the archery range is perfect. Test your aim on a variety of targets, but be careful to take the wind factor and distance into account… Then move on to some swordplay - watching your opponent carefully to spot his weak spot before launching your precise strike. Duel with friends, test your accuracy with the speed slice challenge, where you'll need to cut objects in an indicated way as fast as possible or see how many opponents you can best in one go…

If, after all this action, you need something a bit more leisurely, why not go cycling around the island and take in the view, head to the beach for some Frisbee or to the fairway for a round or two of golf, on the lush, all-new greens created for Wii Sports Resort? And, while rain will never spoil the fun on this island, that doesn't mean you shouldn't take the time to visit the new bowling alley indoors.

Wii Sports Resort offers the best bundle of fun you can have with friends and family this summer. Get your hands on one of the most eagerly-anticipated games of the year from 24th July, when it launches across Europe bundled with Wii MotionPlus - and get ready to have the sports holiday of your life, without leaving home!

The first of a series of Wii titles that managed to convince me to keep my Wii. Smilie

I fear I might have to get this.

The dilemma is a second WM+. I don't want to shell out €20 for something that might be included for free with the next Zelda. Then again, that game is years away.

Whether I buy it or not depends on the price.
I won't buy it for anymore than £50. If there's a good deal with WM+ included, it'll be a steal.

Will £40 including WM+ do SuperLink? Smilie

Yes. Smilie Although I won't take Play's word for it, they've been wrong in the past.

True, although once you've placed your order I believe they have to stay true to the original price - I certainly remember that happening a few times in the past.

The list of games are:

* Disc Dog
* Power Cruising
* Swordplay
* Table Tennis
* Golf
* Air Sports
* Basketball
* Archery
* Cycling
* Bowling
* Canoeing
* Wakeboarding

There's also Frisbee golf which can be played on all 18 golf courses.

Air Sports includes sky diving and flying a plane around the island.

Basketball has 3 vs 3 matches and also a game of hoops.

They haven't said what modes and mini-games there'll be just yet but we'll find out next week when it's released in Japan.

That's an impressive list.

And I read there are also achievement-style challenges.

Import it, that's what I'll be doing when I need a second one. Should be about a tenner in the right places, and all controllers/accessories are region-free anyway. Smilie
