Reggie: What 3rd Party Should Make Nintendo Games?

Reggie has spoken once more, this time asking people what Third Party developers should work on Nintendo properties. In a recent interview with Reginal Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo of America, has been quoted as asking readers everywhere exactly what Nintendo IP should be left in the capable hands of a particular Third Party. This comes hot on the heels of the revelation that Tecmo's Team Ninja is working alongside Nintendo on Metroid: Other M, and follows on from the likes of SEGA working with F-Zero and Namco Bandai working with Star Fox.

"In the same vein of Team Ninja working with Nintendo to re-imagine Metroid, what development group would your readers love to see partner and collaborate with Nintendo? And on what franchise?"

But what exactly would you like to see handed to an outside party? A Metroid 2 remake by WayForward? A new Famicom Detective Club by Telltale Games? Or Stunt Race FX passed over to the Burnout team at Criterion? Be sure to let us know your ideas in the forum below...

    StarFox to Treasure.
    F-Zero to Sega again.
    Earthbound/Mother to Square-Enix.

I hope you're taking notes Reggie. Smilie

I think Nintendo perhaps need to not give their big names to 3rd parties, but perhaps form a team and get ideas with other third parties - some have done well like Retro with Metroid Prime, and Rare (kinda) with Star Fox Adventures but Nintendo really need to be working with third parties and not simply supervising.

That said, I think Nintendo need third party input to get more original ideas in some of their more tired franchises, like Zelda for example.

SEGA did an amazing job on F-Zero GX. Give them F-Zero again.

How about handing Zelda back over to Capcom? They did a fantastic job with the Oracle games and The Minish Cap (Although MC turned out to be a much easier and shorter game than the Oracles). Perhaps working them them on either another 2D game in the same vein as the Oracles, or perhaps a 3D game in the future would make for a better Zelda.

I would also suggest Capcom for making a new Donkey Kong too. I really want to see Donkey Kong Country 4, but if Rare are out of the question to provide that, then I think the next-best company would be Capcom.

Concerning Star Fox, I think it was in the right hands with Namco, but the next SF game just needs to go back to the roots of the franchise and be a true sequel to Star Fox (SNES) and Star Fox 64.

wayforward are good at reviving 2D series like action games, but a metroid, full of its exploration glory i dunno... i'd let them handle another simpler 2D title personnally, no particular example comes to my mind right now...

And then... well... as a Super Mario RPG fanboy, i'd like to see a new Mario RPG/Paper Mario/Mario & Luigi Title handled by Square Enix Smilie

    Valve. On anything.

    BioWare. Kid Icarus, Golden Sun.

    Quest, on Fire Emblem.

Silicon Knights, on (of course) Eternal Darkness II.

Hell, maybe even Bethesda on Zelda??

Ooooo SE on Mario RPG 2. Sega on FZero, Valve on Starfox perhaps? (I absolutely LOVE their gun sounds and physics)
Ummm Factor 5 maybe in conjunction with Valve for a Major Starfox game would be nice.
Zelda should remain Nintendo only methinks, they just need to come up with thinks like Majora's Mask instead of OoT over and over.

Maybe let Capcom or someone like Bioware on the Celda series?

Am I the only one who thinks Nintendo should focus more on their own internal, young studios? Why give away licenses when you can make the games yourself?

I have to second the suggestions of Square handling a new Mario RPG game, whether it be Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi, or Mario RPG 2. I'd have to say I'd prefer it to be a Wii offering rather than a DS game though. Would be awesome to have a Square-developed Mario RPG on the Wii.

And I do agree with Andrezao in that Nintendo need to make Zelda's more in the vein of Majora's Mask. You can't blame them for TP being pretty much an OoT sequel because that's what the fans screamed for. And if Nintendo didn't deliver that then the fans would have gone crazy. But in the future, Zelda needs radical changes (and I assume Nintendo and Miyamoto and co. already know this with what they're working on for Wii). Majora's Mask is my fave Zelda game so Nintendo need to think like that again for the next one.

Canyarion, perhaps they could make the games themselves, but, why would they ask us the question if they didn't want help? =/

If Nintendo decides to finally give in to the demand for an MMO-style Pokemon game, there is only one third party any gamer should be thinking: Blizzard.

I know this is literally raising the dead, but I would also like to see Bethesda take a crack at bringing to life the game Giest (if anybody remembers that ghostly shooter)
I don't post much, but I will appreciate any feedback on the posts I do make. Feel free to PM Smilie

3D Pokemon - Square Enix. They\'d be able to do a 3D game well. You\'d be able to catch wild pokemon and everything you can do in the main games like gym battles and trading. The story would benefit from Square-Enix and not be shallow like the others (think pkmn movie epicness. Smilie). No snagging here. Smilie

I\'m not sure on this, the only one I\'m sure on is Platinum Games on Zelda.

As for the others... I actually want MORE in-house development for series\' like Starfox and Metroid.

My only problem with that is Nintendo\'s weak sense of story, which series\' like Pokémon, Zelda and Starfox could benefit from if done right. Either that or Miyamoto should let Koizumi and Aonuma do what they want with the story for once. The last times Koizumi worked on a Zelda game... can anyone guess what those games were?

EDIT: Blizzard on Pokémon? Please, I\'d never even consider such a contrast of tastes and styles.

Capcom + Zelda is still a dream team of mine, but seeing Team ICO taking a chance at it would seem bliss.

Zelda in Okami-style would be great as well :O
