Doom Resurrection Originally on Wii on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

id Software's latest project, Doom Resurrection, for Apple's iPhone originally started as a pitch for a Wii project.

John Carmack, co-founder of id Software, recently told Joystiq that it was originally penned for Wii before making the jump to Apple's portable platform.

We like to think of it as a more guided experience than an on-rails game. Originally, I was pitched the title as a Wii game -- I dropped some hints about this earlier in the year but nothing substantial, in case the game didn't work out or it wasn't fun or something like that

Would you have liked a version for Wii, or at least WiiWare?

Well, that\'s depressing. Maybe they can still release it on WiiWare??
...awww, who am I kidding.

...wait, it\'s a rail shooter? Okay, I can see why they didn\'t release it on Wii then. Nobody would\'ve been happy to hear about another successful franchise bastardized into an on-rails format for a Wii version.

I wanna see a train game which is on-rails, that will kick some... wait no it wont Smilie

Why not remake Doom 1 and 2 with Wii controls? Throw in Quake 1 and 2 and you'll have a great bundle.
