Secret of Monkey Island for WiiWare?

With TellTale bringing an episodic Monkey Island to WiiWare, fans have wondered if the remake of the original would follow.

Tales of Monkey Island is a new spin-off that's due to take over Nintendo's download service from July 7th. The original Secret of Monkey island, on the other hand, is being remade for Xbox Live Arcade and as a PC download - but no signs of WiiWare or PSN. That may change, however, with the project's producer Craig Derrick hinting at another platform or two for the remake.

Well, we never said we wouldn't be on Wiiware or PSN now did we. The truth is, though, Xbox LIVE offers a great user experience and downloadable service to gamers and we think it's a great platform to launch the game on. And, of course, the game will also be available on PC via digital download, plus we may have another platform announcement to make very, very soon.

Craig Derrick, Producer, Monkey Island: Special Edition

I honestly don't see an HD version of Monkey Island coming to Wii, of all consoles...

I guess there's still hope though.

One day I will be a real life anime.

It isn't just Monkey Island in HD, the sprites and areas have been completly redrawn has aditional audio and simpler interface.
That said I have a feeling it would be to large for wiiware.

Images can be resized. (and thats all this game is really;shitloads of static images). HD is just a silly buzz word really these days.
I mean, the original wasnt advertised as MonkeyIsland:VGA!

Hell, I wouldnt be supprised if a DS version comes out.

Of all the games to port, this will be the easiest to port to just about anything.

The only problem might be voices...50MB is pushing it for that.
Anke on the DS had full voiceacting mind, but thats a 128MB card.
