Miyamoto: Next Zelda Not Radically Different

Zelda founder and Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto recently talked new Wii entry, feeling that it might not be "radically different".

One of the aspects of the last home-console Zelda, Twilight Princess, that fans bring up time and time again is how the game felt a little too similar to its predecessors. Although the game was well put together, its structure and setup to most was Ocarina of Time with a sprinkle of fairy dust.

Miymaoto mentions in the most recent Nintendo Power how he feels that it won't be extremely different. Here's hoping a bit of both: that familiar Zelda magic and feel, but with a new story and location, perhaps?

    Thanks to MTV Multiplayer.

What do you think the Zelda series needs (or doesn't need) for the next home-console edition? Are you a fan of Twilight Princess - could it have been better without that age-old 3 emblems setup?

Don\'t be so literal. Look at the Galaxy, it has the same formula Mario 64 has. But it is amazing and incredibly fresh.

The thing is, in the past, Zeldas set in different eras have supported this by having different looking Links.

Also, I guess you\'re right, but can you really say you\'ll be happy if we just get Forest>Fire>Water temples again and a predictable cookie cut story? I don\'t care so much about the gameplay, we already know THAT will be different (WM+) but what about the story and layout?

I think Miyamoto isnt ready to change Zelda to a new look, maybe he doesnt know what the audiences reaction to it will be, maybe thats what he's afraid of. It's when Kojima put Raiden as the main character of the Big Shell chapter of MGS2, the fans reaction was not a good 1. He's just doesn't to make any changes to the franchise that would lose its appeal to fans.

I don't really understand that - I mean, I know what you're saying, but Miyamoto has always played the role of the person who gives people what they don't even know they want. It's not like he's cared in the past about upsetting people with changes, he just does it. Which is why it's odd that he's reluctant to do with Zelda.

I would like some major changes in dungeon areas, but not very good news indeed.

Personally, I don't care what they come up with for the scenario. I don't care much what artstyle they use. I don't care whether they make the game accessible or hard as fuck (though, I don't want it to be as easy as TP). I don't care what trick they use.

All I want is fucking MotionPlus swordfighting, fucking MotionPlus boomerang-throwing, fucking MotionPlus bow-shooting and fucking MotionPlus whatever-makes-sense-ing.

Branching pathways in dungeons would be cool tho.

Miyamoto should just shut the fuck up.

I think I\'ll save my comments for a blog or two at somepoint. His ideas and decisions have been bugging me for months now.

For fucks sakes, why didn\'t you (and the rest of the staff) took the fucking time to read the fucking source article in NP?

Miyamoto was answering a question and here it is. READ IT:

\"Will Zelda Wii boast an art style comparable to either of Link\'s outings on the GameCube?\"

His answer? \"I don't think it's going to change dramatically\".

End of fucking story (I\'m glad we can swear here!) Smilie

And yet this story here was made up to look as Miyamoto was talking about the game in general (gameplay, puzzles, art, etc.).

You lazy arses didn\'t even bothered to rename the story to what it is REALLY about according to the source (i.e. \"Next Zelda\'s Art Style Not Radicall Different from Twilight Princess\"). And you didn\'t change it cuz you need the controversy and traffic, eh? eh?

Wait, wait, wait, I have to go spend my $50 to get Zelda, then an additional $20 just to play it? Smilie
