Avatar Has MotionPlus Specific Sections on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Ubisoft's Wii version of James Cameron's Avatar will have MotionPlus support for specific portions of the game that'll use it.

Up until now MotionPlus projects have either required full use of the technology (Red Steel 2), or just added that extra layer of control (Grand Slam Tennis, Virtua Tennis 2009), however in Avatar there'll be specific MotionPlus-only sections that can be tackled in different ways.

For example in a preview from IGN, there was a section in the demo where there was an electrified door blocking off an entrance to a bridge over a large chasm. Those without MotionPlus could travel along the rock ledges, however those with the add-on could control a hornet through a hole in the fence to shut down the electric door. Both work, and at the end of the day will get you to the goal but allow for totally different gameplay mechanisms.

Be sure to check out the IGN preview for more details.

Do you think MotionPlus-specific sections is the right way to implement the technology, or should the entire game be MotionPlus-only?

This game/movie actually has nothing to do with that Avatar: The Last Airbender show. It confused me too Smilie

This might be good, but most movie games suck. At least we get more info about it other than James Cameron's hour long speech Smilie

.:Zelda Adventures:.
u guys are DNA.

I dont fully know what this game is. But why not fully use it? Combat could be really fun. Devs should look at implementing and refining the katana game in resort. But some implementation is better then none. I hope the combat is button involved and not random waggle like zelda was.

Thats why the airbender film is being called \"The Last Airbender\", with no avatar in the title.

More confusing for me was that 2000AD had a scifi story called Avatar.
Its a very common/overused name really.

TLA does kick-arse though.

Both equaly bad, imho.

Allthough Zelda did have that excelent \"put your sword away till the last minute then jab them\" attack. That worked well.

I think this is a great way for devs to cope with the inevitable problems with market place penetration related to the motion plus add on bit.
