The latest UK sales awards are out and it has been revealed that Professor Layton is even bigger than expected. Level-5's title, which mixes a traditional tale of mystery with brain teasing logic puzzles from the mind of Akiro Tago, belatedly launched across Europe in November last year and has been a regular feature in the German, French, Spanish and British charts, as well as being a resounding success in various other PAL regions. The game came highly recommended from Cubed3, scoring a 9/10 in the official review and a strong advertising campaign has helped to keep the game riding high since it hits the streets.
Now it has been confirmed that during June and July, Professor Layton and the Curious Village flew past the 600,000 sales mark to achieve a UK status of 'Double Platinum'. With the game still lingering around the top end of Chart Track's UK Top 40, showing no signs of slowing down before this September's release of its sequel 'Professor Layton and Pandora's Box (hands-on preview here), there is still a chance the UK sales alone could help it reach the last known total from Japan of 928,000 units sold.
