S-E Squeezing Wii FFCC: The Crystal Bearers on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Square Enix has said that the team behind Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles are squeezing the full potential from the Wii.

Character designer Toshiyuki Itahana has said that the team are doing their best to make the most from the Wii's capabilities in The Crystal Bearers. Only a handful of third party titles have looked the part on Nintendo's latest home console, and hopefully this'll be one of them.

We were extra careful about things like making sure to including exciting and heroic highlight scenes at regular intervals in the scenario, and using the visual capabilities of the Wii to its fullest potential. Even right now, and for as long as time permits, the development team will continue to pour their efforts into the presentation and sound for a final product that looks and feels great.

What do you think of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers so far?

I sure hope so. The last trailer wasn't all too impressive on the textures front (but then again S-E have never been too great with textures).

You think it'll get another slight overhaul? It looked pretty complete last time we saw it.

Some videos I've seen of it look great, then I see other videos that just look OK.

It seems like they are putting the effort in though. So hopefully it'll be a good game. How long has it been in developement for now 3 years?

I've liked everything I've seen on this game. It's all looking really good and puts most Wii games to shame.

So does this mean refraction and fur effects are back?

Something the gamecube version did, but Ive yet to see in this one.
Refraction for the big crystals really is a must.

It's good to hear that they are putting so much effort into this game. It looks pretty good. After four/five years of development time, this should be the greatest game out there for the Wii!

At this point I dont care if they improve it graphically I just want to play it. Zelda was the last big world I explored. I feel deprived if only I could afford an xbox or PS3

It looked great from what I seen, even if textures are bit blurry SE always has great looking magic effects and the presentation/audio/charchter design is usally top notch.

From what I\'ve seen of the game so far, it\'ll either be a huge success or just meh. I honestly can\'t tell, so I\'ll have to wait and see how it\'s received by critics. As for the visuals, from what I\'ve seen it looks certainly above average for a Wii game, but not the absolute BEST I\'ve seen on the system. I mean, it\'s not going to be competing with Super Mario Galaxy, Sonic and the Black Knight, Dragon Ball: The Revenge of King Piccolo, Monster Hunter 3, or the better-looking parts of the Quantum3 games any time soon.
