Nintendo DS Monster Hunter Clone Coming on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Whilst Japanese gamers are currently going crazy for Monster Hunter 3, a clone is coming to DS this year, courtesy of Bandai Namco, rather than Capcom. Apparently Kaiju Busters will feature large rubber monsters and heroes in full body suits that must fend off attacks. Despite the game lacking his actual name, it will in fact be part of the long-running Ultraman series and comes in the form of a 3rd-Person Action Adventure that bears a striking resemblance to the Monster Hunter franchise. The development team is working hard to make this a worthy alternative to Capcom's games, though, offering up more than 500 weapons across nine categories, as well as over 500 defensive items. The numerous stages included will be set across seven planets, with gamers fighting against 40+ monsters. It has also been revealed that the game will feature more than 300 missions to keep players suitably occupied.

Check out the first trailer for the game below, and expect more details towards its proposed Winter 2009 Japanese release:

From the small amount of gameplay footage, it's looking good. Smilie

Looks good, but when you compare it to monster hunter on the PSP it looks horrible. Shows how underpowered the DS is in comparison to the PSP.

I think I will stick with Monster Hunter 3 for now.
