High Voltage on The Conduit Sequel on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

High Voltage's Joshua Olsen has commented on the possibility of a sequel to exclusive Wii shooter, The Conduit.

Without giving too much away, with the storyline in the original leaving room for a sequel, fans have hoped and expected the studio to be making a sequel. It all depends on how well it's done, sales and fans wise - nothing's being work on at the moment, but the team do want to continue Agent Ford's story.

I have no idea, it all depends on the fans and sales but it's a little early for now to assume anything. Anyway, we are very interested to make a sequel to The Conduit, it's quite a robust world and there are more stories we want to tell.

Sure there are, The Conduit is the first part for our hero and we want to make more parts to tell more things about him.

We have not started to work on a sequel.

Thanks to Nintendo Everything.

It\'s a pretty decent game aswell, I hope it does sell enough to get a sequel. I haven\'t found a game yet that\'s too laggy to play in, all my regional games have been smooth, even if the charater moves a bit slow. And my worldwide games have only had a bit of lag.

With single player, I guess they could tell a slightly better story and maybe improve level design a bit, but it was fine.

With 150,000 units sold in the US alone in just its first month, what was indeed a low budget game for SEGA (most of the game had been completed using HVS's own budget) has likely turned into a very nice money-maker.

I have only played GST online but I cant stand playing opponents from South America japan or OZ. I dont experience lag but things like not being able to return the ball on their serve or score points on their serve no matter if you win the rally.

High Voltage need to pick up some talented concept artist. Art direction for the conduit was lame generic.

High Voltage definately deserve a lot of success on the Wii for putting most big name developers to shame.

I mainly bought the game out of support but have loved every second of the game. The story could do with a little more interaction with other characters face to face half-life style instead of the codec scenes between levels. It also needs to have more variety in terms of locations as going through one government building to another with the odd tunnel/fire escape did get repetitive.

Hopefully the game will go on to get decent worldwide sales over time.

What would the sequal consist on?
Never played the game but It looks pretty straight forward on killing Zombie/Alieans/Metal Men?

Well, they've certainly left plenty of room for improvements. For starters, they can make a MUCH better story, with better writing, more interesting characters, more atmospheric environments, better level designs, smarter AI, more varied multiplayer options, and more consistently good graphics.

High Voltage need to lean quality over quantity

Yes and No. I think we expect Conduit to be a better shooter then all the other shooters on X360, PC and Co to jump onto and buy it. That\'s understandable, since you guys played so much on X360 that you don\'t want to buy a mediocre shooter, which is absolutely top on Wii but only okay compared to X360.

Aside from that it\'s a great first project for a company, they did great imho, did a lot of pioneering work. But they lack some things, which are only natural:
Artwork, generic levels, generic story.
The artwork wasn\'t bad, but the overall graphics work needed polishing. Aside from that the game is excellently done, mostly flawless technically.

I hope they are able to do similar projects in the future, not only Conduit 2, but other \"Egoshooters\" (German term for it...! *g*) as well.

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

They need to hire some talented level designers, because without them Conduit 2 is going to be a pile of shit like the 1st one.

I hope it does well enough for a sequal.

Highvoltage has always striked me not as developer of amazing talent, but rather one putting in amazing effort.
I think their skills will grow, and any sequal they make will be much better then the first.

This isnt unusual.
Look how utterly rubbish Killzone1 was.
Yet Playstation fans hailed the sequal as the second coming...and it did turn out much better in reviews.

With the amount of effort High Voltage put into this, they deserve every bit of success they can get. Will pick up the Conduit when I get some cash.

For the most part I agree with you guys. The story completely oozed cheese and cliches. Mr. Ford seemed shrouded in confusion, the story was really generic and the artistic style needed work.

BUUUUUUUUTTTT, It is still a very solid Wii shooter that broke many barriers technically and playabilityally (is that even a word?)

I would change all the flaws I mentioned up there, and then scrap Mr. Ford for a new, buff, black guy who will be voiced by Morgan Freeman.
