Wii Sports Resort Tops 500,000 in the US on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The highly anticipated sequel to Wii Sports has sold exceptionally well in the US since launching late last month.

From July 26th through till August 3rd, Nintendo's tracking figures have found that over 500,000 copies of the game, which includes the Wii MotionPlus, have sold. Roughly one copy was sold every 1.5 seconds on Monday.

Through Monday we sold one copy of Wii Sports Resort roughly every 1.5 seconds continuously since it launched in the United States. This tells us consumers were eagerly waiting to get their hands on these fun activities, and it's a great start for a game that will have long-lasting appeal.

Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing.

Wii Sports Resort has become a firm favourite here on C3 too, earning 9/10 in our review.

Have you bought a copy of Wii Sports Resort? What are your views on the game?

I've enjoyed my purchase of Wii Sports Resort and I'm looking forward for other games (sorry, both Tennis games and the Tiger Woods one don't count for me) that support WM+.

I doubt I'll be getting this, but the good news here is that it ought to give developers greater confidence in building games to use Motion+. I tried the swordfighting mode at Gamestop the other day and all I could think was, I can't WAIT for these controls to show up in a God of War/Devil May Cry style action game. I would very much like to use my Motion+ controlled sword to split people's heads open. Oh yes. PAY ATTENTION, SUDA51.

Continuing on with my last post

Might pass. Table tennis and sword fighting look like great fun but not keen on the water activities, basket ball, cycling. meh to bowling. Golf looks much improved interms of putting.
But online would have sold it to me. But nintendo dont want to support online. Or perhaps the system cant cope with online. A 2d mario game cant cope so why would this 3D game.
