High Voltage Considering RPG Option on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Joshua Olson from High Voltage, developers of Wii-exclusive shooter The Conduit, was asked what other genres they might consider.

The studio are currently devising several new games for Wii, including co-operative horror shooter, The Grinder, and the brutal Gladiator A.D - one of the genres Olson hopes to work with is the good ol' fashioned RPG:

The great thing about working at High Voltage is that we make a variety of games - shooters, games for kids. I personally would love to make a western RPG type game and so far and up until this point, that's something that we haven't done here at High Voltage.

Thanks to Nintendo Everything.

From what you've seen and played from High Voltage, do you think they'd be able to whip up a good RPG?

just make one good game High Voltage! get a good art team in as well

Do what you're good at... Specialize in FPS or something, don't bring out mediocre after mediocre game.

Steady on mate, they have only had one retail game thus far for the Wii, and at the very least it has a far from mediocre engine and online support.

I love the spirit of this company, but I think RPGs are too long. It takes a lot of manpower and time to make them, and even then most come out boring and repedative.

Id rather they concentrated on improving their skills with games suitable for the engine they have.

Their legacy is hardly Rare-like Smilie

An RPG from shitmakers? Bring it on!!! Smilie And stop insulting Rare!!!

You mean insult the memory of rare.
RARE did a good enough job at insulting themselfs the last few years.

And now they are shitmakers? Conduit isnt "shit".

Good grief, its so black and white for you people isnt it.

Wow, you get a dedicated third party developer trying to make quality games for the Wii and you people shit all over them. What a fanbase.

My God!
When i send them an e-mail a month ago i told them they should consider making an RPG!

Could it be that this is because of me!? Smilie

Before they start talking about genre expansion, HIgh Voltage should really focus on making just one really, TRULY good game - something that, to the best of my knowledge, they have yet to do.
