Earthworm Jim Bound for WiiWare, Download Networks on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Interplay has confirmed a new Earthworm Jim for WiiWare, PSN, XBLA and mobile platforms.

French developer Gameloft is working on the untitled entry in the Earthworm Jim series - it's currently unknown whether it'll be a remake of one of the original titles, or a completely new entry. Some are speculating it might nab ideas from the once possible Earthworm Jim 4.

We are delighted to partner with Interplay to bring Earthworm Jim to multiple downloadable platforms. The game, with its humorous and edgy style, is a great fit for today's gamer who craves a fully immersive experience that is fun and easily accessible. We look forward to delivering a fantastic game.

Gonzague de Vallois, senior vice president, Gameloft.

Earthworm Jim resonates with millions of people worldwide and we are excited to have one of the best developers in the industry create this game for a new audience, Gameloft's creativity coupled with its innate knack for innovative games, makes us 100% confident that the result will be nothing short of stellar.

Herve Caen, CEO, Interplay.

The game is due to arrive on XBLA in Q4 2009, a month ahead of other formats.

Earthworm Jim 4 was never cancelled you know Smilie they're still working on it, as well as the new animated series.

This could be fantastic news, I can't wait to see how it turns out. I just hope Doug TenNapel doesn't get shafted from production again.

Right. Just the PSP Earthworm Jim was canceled. That was a remake and is unrelated to EWJ 4 (Doug Tennapel had nothing to do with the PSP game, but apparently has a role in EWJ 4).

Makes you wonder. It could just be an enhanced version of the original with extras or something. But how hard is it to be creative when you\'re just remaking a game? I wish Tennapel would say something about this game.

There are some of us who may recall the early excitement of seeing the games hit computers for the first time. It isn't uncertain that everyone is craze of playing video games, particularly children and teens. Anyway, there's a Nintendo Wii recall going into effect. Rest assured, it isn't a Nintendo Wii recall of the box and all controllers, with an Xbox 360 red ring of death type of problem - the recall affects the Psyclone Essentials and React Wii controller stations, which are aftermarket components. Wii owners with the Psyclone products are encouraged to unplug the unit and contact the manufacturer. The recharging station heats up and can cause minor burns to skin and clothing. Luckily, no fires have broken out or serious injuries reported. Yet, they have to fix the nintendo Wii recall problems, so you shouldn't need to spend time and money to fix it.
