Dragon Quest DS Passes 3.5 Million in Japan on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The Japanese sales figures for the period of 3rd-9th August show Dragon Quest IX's success has not died down yet. The game is on track to not only surpass the sales of Dragon Quest VIII on PlayStation 2, but the current best-selling game in the series, Dragon Quest VII on the original PlayStation. Whether or not the game can manage to hit the five million mark that Square Enix's president is hoping for is another matter, though. With weekly downloadable missions currently in play and the end of year sales period on the horizon, there is indeed a strong chance of it lingering around the charts for a fair while yet at least.

Check out the sales below, showing Wii dropping by nearly half from its big boost the week prior when Monster Hunter 3 had been released.

"2.) Monster Hunter 3 (Wii, Capcom) - 137,093 | 657,000"
I remember people saying it was not selling... I think, for a home console that is pretty good.

It will at least get through its initial shipment of a million units, I have no doubt about that at all...

Wow. Only in Japan could the #1 bestselling title in the nation be a PS2 title.
