Fans of Okami can breathe a sigh of relief as it looks like the adventures in Nippon aren't over yet; Okamiden for the DS!
Revealed via two scans in the latest issue of Famitsu, not much is yet known about Capcom's new game, except that it will be for the world's most popular handheld, and it is most likely a sequel to the original. Okamiden is currently set for a 2010 release in Japan, no word as of yet for other territories.
Update
A handy info translation has trickled in from IGN, confirming that Okamiden is indeed a sequel, fully titled Okamiden: Chisaki Taiyou. Taking place a few months after the end of Amaterasu's quest to defeat Yami, this time you'll take control of a new wolf, Chibiterasu, who looks like a miniature version of Ammy. Issun returns to guide Chibiterasu to Sakuya for some form of help.
The combat system is said to resemble that of the original game, of course enhanced by Touch Screen drawing, and you can now have Partner Characters, each with special abilities you need to progress. One such Partner is the Son of Susano, Kuninushi. How the clumsy WoodSword wielding Warrior can end up with a son in a matter of months is one of the things you'll find out.
Okamiden is roughly around 25% complete, and might be in demo form at the Tokyo Game Show later this month.
