Nintendo Still Riding High in Japan

The latest Media Create sales are now in, showing that Nintendo is continuing its dominance of the Japanese charts in the week prior to the PS3 Slim launch. This week it is the Mii-meets-Animal Crossing title 'Friend Collection' on DS that claims the No.1 spot thanks to strong word-of-mouth. Dragon Quest IX is not far behind at No.2, with sales now nearly at the 3.8 million mark and with news of a renewed advertising campaign due in Japan later this month, the predicted sales of 5 million in Japan alone looks like becoming a reality sooner rather than later. Wii Sports Resort plods along nicely at No.3 this week, proving any doubters wrong by storming well past the million milestone and still going strong. The same goes for Monster Hunter 3, which even though Capcom shipped a million units on Day One, was thought to be a massive disappointment by some sectors due to it only selling half of the amount in its first week. Now, though, Capcom has gone on record to state it is confident the million will definitely be sold through in the near future and this week's Media Create ranking on 5th with sales now at ~840,000 units, pushing through another ~35,000 over the past seven days indicate Capcom certainly does not look like it will be wrong in its assumption at all. The only Nintendo-related new entries in the Top 10 come from Bandai Namco with Super Robot Gakuen at No.7 and the Nintendo-Nikkei co-developed 'Money Training' product for DS, which starts slow with just over 21,000 units sold, but will likely be a slow burner like Friend Collection recently was and Brain Training was all those years ago.

Check out the list below, along with the hardware chart that shows interest in the PS3 has all but died due to the impending release of the PS3 Slim in Japan:

I just bought Cursed Mountine and Metroid Trilogy, that\'s going to last me 80hours or so between them.
Scribblenaughts is out next month which looks an absolute must have. I\'m still catching up on my Layton though.
Then theres Mario and Lugia 3.
Then back to the Wii with New Mario Bros, possibly Muramasa: The Demon Blade, (maybe Drawn to Life too), then finaly back to the DS for Zelda: Spirit Tracks.

Personally, thats enough for my wallet to handle.
Early next years there\'s Galaxy2, Red Steal2 and Fragile.

Oh, and this isnt even covering the WiiWare stuff Smilie
Theres loads of good WiiWare coming.
Lost Winds 2, Night Game, CaveStory, Project Q are all definites for me.
I\'ll get other stuff based on reviews.
I want to get the MonkeyIsland games, but I\'ll probably buy them on pc.(seem better value, and more money will go to the developers...I think).

Think Its going to be a barren year for me. have no one I know interested in mario bros and I cant see it being good played alone. The DS game I thought was forgettable and this seems fashioned on that one.

Muramasa and a few wii ware titles this year. But next year holds the kind of games that interest me: Final Fantast, red steel 2, Galaxy 2, metroid, Rabbids looking likely, no more heroes, maybe high voltage stuff. Hoping there are secret motion plus stuff in the pipe line.

This year was a bit barren concerning the top blockbuter titles which there were few. Not impressed this year.
