Comp: Britain’s Best Nintendo Gamer on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

To celebrate the release of New! Super Mario Bros for Wii next month, Nintendo UK are holding a tournament. The prize: visit Nintendo Japan!

The winner will be crowned Britain's Best Nintendo Gamer and bag a trip for 5 to visit Nintendo's home in Japan - worth a whopping £10,000. Yes, whopping! Eight GAME/Gamestation stores will be hosting the brackets on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th october, spanning challenges in four top Wii and DS games: Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fit, Mario Kart DS and New Super Mario Bros DS.

The top two finalists from each location will enter the last 16 to battle it out in Covent Garden, London on Friday the 30th of October. The voice behind all of Mario's escapades, Charles Martinez, will be on hand to award the lucky winner his/her prize.

    What a terrible games lineup. I can't be arsed to travel that great a distance just to have someone beat me on Mario Kart DS by either blue shell or snaking. Smilie

    Goodluck P. Woo Manchester. Not that ill go, the games are shite, ive never played wii fit .. (played, its not even a game!!) havnt got wii sports resort .. dont wanna lose to snakers either and NEW super mario bros .. meh give me the original and id wipe the floor. Oh well thats the way gaming is now.

    If they're going to release a co operative mario bros game why the feck isnt it online!! its hard enough to find people who actually still like it let alone getting them over to play.

    These types of events and marketing promotions will keep Nintendo at the top! The UK may have felt slighted about no price drop while the U.S. got $50 off, so something like this event is perfect promoting. What they need to do now is more online promoting like this one, check the link for info, that's the stuff that will spread the word easiest I think.
