New Pokemon Game Coming to Wii

New Pokemon Game Coming to Wii on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

So far Wii has yet to receive a proper Pokemon title. Could that be about to change? At present, the only retail release on Wii has been Pokemon Battle Revolution, which purely focused on the fighting element of the immensely popular series. Then on the Wii side, only in Japan at the moment, there are three Pokemon Mystery Dungeon titles and Pokemon Scramble, whilst the Western world has the extremely basic Pokemon Ranch. But could a fully-fledged RPG edition be on its way at long last?

According to the latest edition of Famitsu magazine something Pokemon-related is indeed heading to Wii. The latest issue has an interview with The Pokemon Company President Tsunekazu Ishihara. Although the interview focuses on the recently released Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver for DS, he slips in the following comment towards the end: "I can't go into details about it, but we're also working on a Wii game. It should be announced soon."

Would you want to see a full-scale Pokemon RPG on Wii, or would something similar to Pokemon Colosseum be acceptable?

Hopefully a full new adventure game. Hopefully not another WiiWare game. Can't wait to find out what it is.

I still dream of them doing a fully-fledged RPG but at this point it just better not to think about it ^^; and they're not that good at making 3D games

they need to do alot to the fighting right now it still the same as it was

Don\'t agree. Real-time would turn it into a button masher. The battle system is good, it\'s simple to get into for kids and beginners but has a lot of depth and strategy for veterans. And the battle system has been tweaked and improved over the generations anyway. (Special attack/defence splitting, redefining of physical/special attacks, addition of new attacks, hold items, dark and steel types, abilities, natures, etc).

Also, I thought Colosseum and XD were awesome, I wouldn\'t mind more like that. I can see them keeping the main adventure games to the handhelds.

Id want turn based fights, but no random battles.
Purhapes you could have semi-realtime aspexs to battles though (like paper mario)

Id also want a full RPG adventure, but thats a huge zelda-scale project.

Yeah, that's not a bad idea, so long as they don't add in pointless touchscreen/wiimote-waggling action. Smilie

Yup, lack of a fully explorable world is the main thing Colosseum/XD lacked. It would be amazing if they actually did that. Smilie

What ruined Colosseum for me was the lack of a proper explorable world. That and the awful snagging you had to do.

im sorry but they cant get away with just give us the same shit and just adding useless min games that dont really do that much to boost your pokemon

and fights only having 4 movies to pick is boring most fight are over in 2 hits anyway the winner is nothing to do with what movies you use it what type you use may as well just be rock paper scissors

I hope it's a fully fledged RPG too, but who are we kidding? It would be nice anyway.

I kinda agree with Darkflame on the input commands, I've always found myself doing some sort of button combo to "increase damage" or "make a Pokeball work", and I bet most of you do it aswell Smilie It's second nature!

As for Jump_Button, would you rather Pokémon be a hack'n'slash than an almost tactical turn based game?
Competetive play is something else altogether, real time gameplay would ruin that forever.

Pokemon MMO?

Extremely unlikely, but that would certainly be the dream Pokemon game of many.

I would love a 3D Pokemon Wii game that featured just the original 150 (or 151) Pokemon. I wouldn't care if it was simply a 3D remake of Pokemon Red/Blue.

Smilie Anyway, I have to agree with Sonic_13. Wait, maybe a new Pokémon region with the good, old Pokémons?

I would love a "real" Pokémon-game on Wii, and it would be even better, if they make it in first-person in my opinion.

I enjoyed Pokémon Colosseum, especially because of Umbreon and Espeon, but the world was too small, and you could only catch those "Shadow Pokémons". But I do not mind if they made another game like Colosseum and XD: Gales of Darkness. They just need to do a few improvements.

English isn't my main-language, so I will possibly make some grammatical failures sometimes. But shit happends.

Unlike most people here, I would rather have a proper sequel to Pokemon Stadium rather than a 3D adventure game. The pokemon series is always so slow, and with 3D animations, it was become a crawl. I don't think I'd be able to sit through 10 minute random battles to level up.

Besides, the sheer number of animation possibilities (500 pokemon x 500 attacks each) would limit whatever else could be done. If 3D, the entire system would have to be radically different than the 2D games.

Whatever the case, the graphics need to be cel-shaded. Pokemon are only 2 flat colors most of the time anyway. Who needs textures?

How about a 2D MMO version?

When hell freezes over maybe?

Add me on anything. I'm always looking for new friends/opponents/town visitors/chances to appear more popular than I actually am.

Well, that's already been done in Battle Revolution, they'd just reuse it. Whilst I wouldn't prefer it to a proper adventure, I would like a new Pokémon Stadium style game. Pokémon Stadium 2 was amazing. Even better, give us an adventure game with Pokémon Stadium stuff on the side (similar to Colosseum).

Agree, I generally think that Pokémon doesn't work in "regular 3D", it completely misses the charm of the sprites in the 2D games and makes the whole experience a lot more dull.

I also agree that 3D animations take too long, but we already got our 3D sequel to Stadium, and it was called "Pokémon Battle Revolution". Same game without the mini-games. I want a proper RPG dammit, like, a mainseries Pokémon game, but in 3D!

Yes please! I'd ideally love a 3D version of the handheld ones - plain and simple - perhaps not some over-the-top 3D but a clean and fluid step up from the DS ones for the big screen.

Random battles - perhaps not, but having critters moving around and you approaching them to battle, then capture, would be good. Lots of trainers, a good story and online play and we're set!

Speaking of approach to battle (kinda like the idea but I'm not sure how finding more rare Pokémon will be challenging at all) Pokémon followers (like in HG/SS) is an absolute must. Seriously after playing HG/SS I go back to other titles and crave to have something awesome following me (that isn't Pikachu)

You can have an adventure game, with the explorable environment and puzzle solving, without random encounters.

The battles in pokemon were always secondary enjoyment for me anyway.

A good pokemon rpg should be based around using your pokemon to solve environmental puzzles, progress and discover new areas.
(eg, rideing your pokemon across water, or getting them to fly you short distance, or though lava, or dig into rock...).

Pokemon shouldnt just be about fighting, imho.
You have these creatures with amazing abilities, lets see them used creatively.

eg.
Theres a lava-lake to cross.
You can even fly over it, ride some fire-proof pokemon, or use a water one to cool a patch down enough to walk on for awhile.

Puzzles could be solved in various ways based on what you have captured Smilie

Sounds exactly like Pokémon Ranger.

The spin-offs are worth playing, they shouldn't just be ignored.

o Yeah i will love to see a new Orre region game that is greener. Or even in a new region with the same fourth generation pokemon. Still have the same thing as the last two, where you can catch the previous legendary three pokemon, and catch the three rigis.

The Pokémon games are really designed to be handheld, though. I think a full-fledged game fro Wii could be very interesting... I think they'd have to have something major to add to it, though, to make it worth it. It's not like Zelda or anything, where the game was always meant to be 3D and was held back until the 64 because of technical limitations. Pokémon has always been a two-dimensional game, and never really needed to be more. Nintendo has a way of finding a way, though.

A full scaled Pokemon RPG game for the Wii. Perhaps you can customize your own character, and choose which region you start on (Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh)of which would also determine which starters you get to choose from, not to mention online battles. That would be good.

Yay a good pokemon game for the wii Smilie

They should be working on an epic 3D PKMN RPG for the Yuu. Online of course. I bet people would even pay a montly fee for it.
