DSi Speak Channel on the Way? on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

A note on the customer support pages over at Nintendo's official site had a quick mention for a possible DSi Speak Channel.

According to Edge Magazine, the was a post on how DSi owners can grab their copy of the software by using a download ticket. It's since been removed.

A channel would fit nicely in-line with the console's features - a camera, microphone and on-board wireless.

As with all rumours, Nintendo has said "nothing has been announced."

What do you think about the possible DSi Speak channel? Would you download/use it?

That would be great. For people who have a DSi.

no

I think more people would use it than the Wii Speak Channel.

However, some have pointed out that this could have simply been a mistake on the people running Nintendo's website, since the DSi's little boxes are not called 'Channels' and the text is exactly the same as for the Wii support page, except with Wii replaced with DS...

No harm in having one, so yeah it'd be cool. Might work to create an expectation among owners for voice chat in their games too, which is win win I think.

So...wouldn't that just be like having some sort of camera chat, except with the DSi? I mean, isn't this the same as what people do on their laptops/phones? IS EVERYTHING TURNING INTO A PC?!

It requires great courage to look at oneself honestly, and forge one's own path.

It would be great if they used the camera for video, so long the quality wouldn't suck too badly.
That may be unavoidable considering the low quality and the Internet speed required for that, but if it's possible then it should be done.
