A fairly big showing for Nintendo on GTTV this week saw Reggie Fils-Aime discuss Mario, Zelda and HD Wii, with a new trailer for Spirit Tracks.
During the show Fils-Aime also reconfirmed the sequel to Mario Galaxy and the new take on Metroid, Other M, for a release next year. He also has very high hopes for New! Super Mario Bros on the Wii, claiming it'll outsell Call of Duty: Modern Warfare by January.
Wii HD? A big "NO" from Reggie, though it's likely that it's because the next console will probably not be called "Wii HD"...

it would just look nicer.

Making it a better game. Graphics play an important part in the feel of a game, and how it\'s scored, etc.
Would you rather play a non-HD version of Galaxy, or an HD version of Galaxy?
It\'s not a hard choice.
For example, I much rather play N64 games on the VC than on the old N64. They look sharper and run more smoothly, it\'s part of the reason I got them again. Then there\'s Banjo-Kazooie, whose graphical updates on 360 made it one of the reasons so many people bought it again.

Tacking on proper HD output to the current Wii wouldn't be beneficial not because HD isn't good, but because they should hold off and bump up the specs in a completely new home console and not tacking it onto the current Wii.
Sure I would love to see a smoother Mario Galaxy, for example, it is a beautiful game that would have looked nicer - imo - with the benefits of high definition.
When people say something like "Galaxy would have looked better in HD", others seem to find this an attack on the game - the key word here is "better" not that it's got crap visuals, just that working it for high definition would have given Galaxy that extra finishing touch.
People seem to think HD = seeing freckles and sweat lines, yes you do get far more detail, but for games like Mario and Zelda it would really just be for that finishing touch to give less jaggies and an overall smoother experience.
Anyhoo, a current Wii with HD output - no thanks. A new "Wii 2" with improved specs, HDMI output, better storage and proper non-gimped online = YES. PLEASE.

This. It's the point I was making when I said that when they Release a home console they always release a proper New console not an upgrade like SEGA and all. I don't need a HD wii, I want a next Nintendo Console.
HD ain't everything and some "advantages" that the makers of such tech try to shove down our throat is just ridiculous. Just like sony showing off that in heavy Rain they can render acne. like wtf? Is that necessary?? It's just detail no one notices that has no fundamental importance in any game whatsoever.
I do agree it will be nicer with less jaggies, fluidity can be debated as some PS3/360 games run at 25fps (normal HD framerate). I don't deny that but the Wii isn't HD so are we gonna have a cry about it and keep n raving how it's not HD and all? it's stupid, what's done is done.
I would like Nintendo to release a whole new home console with differences other than simply HD. Nintendo always changes their control schemes, layouts, etc. I would like them to keep doing that rather that upgrading.
I just think a lot of people winge all the time how it's not HD when it's no big deal. I mean I grew up in the 16 bit era, the N64 came out, and I still played my SNES as well in fact I still do. So what? let's just forget how we've played all these games without HD and stop buying Wii games because it;s not HD? That's stupid.
