New Super Mario Bros. Wii Strong in UK

The latest chart listings from the UK market have now been revealed by Chart Track UK, with Nintendo's big new releases for the week being New Super Mario Bros. on Wii and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky for DS. Due to the sheer force of the multiplatform of both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Assassin's Creed II, Nintendo's new 2D Mario adventure had to settle for a No.3 new entry position, but it was closely followed by Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus. Sadly Pokemon Mystery Dungeon could not even break into the DS Top 10.

Below is the summary of the latest sales week in the UK from Chart-Track, as well as the Top 10 All Formats, DS and Wii lists:

Activision’s ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’ (XB360, PS3, PC, DS) remains No1 for a second week, although sales drop 86% over the huge launch week. Ubisoft have to settle for No2 with new-entry ‘Assassin’s Creed II’ for 360/PS3/DS - the original went straight in at No1 back in week 46, 2007 although the sequel has outperformed the original by around 12% in terms of unit sales. Nintendo debut right behind at No3 with ‘New Super Mario Bros. Wii’ and Nintendo also take No’s 4 & 5 with ‘Wii Sports Resort’ at No4 (down 2 places, units down 10%) and ‘Wii Fit Plus’ (down one place, units up 10%). EA’s ‘FIFA 10’ drops 3 places to No6 (-5%) and EA are also No7 with new-entry ‘Left 4 Dead 2’ (360/PC). Codemasters debut at No11 with the officially licenced ‘F1 2009’, 81% on Wii / 19% on PSP. Also debuting within the Top 40 is Lucasarts’ ‘Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues’, at No16 over 6 formats. EA debut at No36 with ‘The Sims 3: World Adventures’, the first expansion pack for ‘The Sims 3’ and Sony’s ‘LittleBigPlanet’ is the last of the Top 40 new entries, in at No38 thanks to the new PSP version.
