Nintendo European Downloads, 27th November, 2009 on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

This week sees the arrival of the eagerly awaited Mighty Flip Champs! alongside the action packed and puzzling world of Reflect Missile, both on Nintendo DSiWare.

And that’s not all " there are emergencies to tend to in Copter Crisis, dragons to slay in Dragon Master Spell Caster and a raving Rabbid to play with in Rabbids Lab, all on WiiWare. Virtual Console takes Shanghai to the next level with Shanghai II Dragon’s Eye launching on Virtual Console this week.

DSiWare

Mighty Flip Champs! (WayForward, 800 Nintendo DSi points)
Are you ready to become a Mighty Flip Champ? Take control of Alta and Page Flip through a series of action packed mazes. The Touch Screen reflects a preview of the next chamber and shows Alta's projected destination within it. When it's time to flip, use Alta's Magical Warp Wand to replace her world with the next one. Will she land safely on solid ground, or be crushed under it? By cycling endlessly through room after brain busting room, you'll match wits with some of the most devious traps in puzzle/platforming history!

Reflect Missile (Nintendo, 500 Wii Points)
Action, puzzle and strategy meet head-on in Reflect Missile! Use the Touch Screen and stylus to launch an arsenal of missiles and destroy all enemy blocks in each stage. Enemies are surrounded by obstructing blocks, so you'll need to think strategically and aim carefully to take them all out. To aid you in your mission, you're armed with a variety of unique types of missile. Reflector missiles bounce around the screen, taking out blocks as they go. Drillers bore through up to six blocks in one shot. Bombers destroy all blocks within a certain blast radius. But don't squander your missiles; you only have a set number with which to complete each stage. Clearing stages with missiles left over earns you medals, which unlock even more stages - up to 200 in total! With various difficulty levels and a quick play mode, Reflect Missile will prove a relaxing challenge for players of all abilities.

WiiWare

Copter Crisis (Digital Leisure, Inc., 500 Wii Points)
Copter Crisis puts you in the pilot’s seat. As a member of the elite Helicopter Rescue Squad, you’ll be assigned to respond to any type of emergency anywhere at any time. As the newest member joining this team, you’ll have to complete various missions with the latest in helicopter rescue technology. When you’re ready, you’ll be tasked with executing rescue missions all around the Black Rock Canyon. Your Wii Remote becomes the control stick as you guide your copter along the canyons while avoiding rocks, severe weather and even anti-aircraft fire! Rescue lost hikers, deliver supplies to remote areas, assist on scientific missions and even blast your way into underground cavern systems. Complete all of your objectives and rise through the ranks to take on the toughest rescues and unlock 10 bonus missions. Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Pay & Play allows you to enhance your flight experience with 10 additional copters. Unlimited missiles, larger fuel tanks, cargo holds and even mid-air loops!

Dragon Master Spell Caster (Stickmen Studios, 500 Wii Points)
The Dragon Lords have returned to the magical world of Nakiha bringing ultimate power to whoever controls them. Choose your champion and master amazing magic and fierce dragon attacks to defeat the rival Champions and their Dragon Lords. Choose from four different paths and decide the fate of the world in the fantastic story mode. Battle your friends in two player split screen arcade mode and tailor your tactics with different dragon and rider combinations, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Become the Dragon Master Spell Caster!

Rabbids Lab (Ubisoft, 500 Wii Points)
A raving Rabbid is stuck inside the Wii Remote! Interact with him by moving the Wii Remote or pressing the buttons and seeing how much he loves it. Once you've gotten to know the crazy guy, it's time to change his appearance in the Lab! Mess with his head and place seasonal accessories on him to act as a hat, or change his look entirely with the painting module. When you've made your raving Rabbid completely unique, you can take a photo and send it in a Wii message to show your friends.

Solitaire (GameOn, 500 Wii Points)
Solitaire features 18 variations of the most well-known and best-loved single-player card game including Klondike, Freecell, Spider, Pyramid and Yukon. Most games have custom gameplay options so you can enjoy the game with your favourite rules. On-screen instructions will help you to learn new Solitaire variations. Statistics are available for players who love to track their wins. Save the game status any time for later or customise the look with a wide variety of backgrounds. The game's style and interface has been designed for easy intuitive operation with the Wii Remote controller. Sit back and relax. Enjoy the endless challenge and fun with this Solitaire game collection.

VIRTUAL CONSOLE

I don't like all this focus on the 'Ware' games. There are thousands of old console games just waiting to be brought back to life! And I want to play them!

I didn't realise until I downloaded it, but Reflect Missile is by Dylan Cuthbert and the folk over at Q-Games (i.e. the ones that did Star Fox Command and Art Style: Intersect). It's a BLOODY addictive game - like a clever mix of Arkanoid and Puzzle Bobble. Probably the best 500 Points I've spent in a long time! Smilie

Can't wait to give Mighty Flip Champs a whirl as well.

But yeah, there are PLENTY of VC classics waiting in the wings that need to be unleashed...like why have there been no Third Party N64 games? The only one I can think of that's coming is Ogre Battle 64.

Question is, what third party N64 games of note are there? Smilie

Got Mighty Flip Champs last week. A work of genius, but gets bloody hard very early on. Smilie
