Following its debut in the UK last week, New Super Mario Bros. for Wii has now claimed the No.1 spot, toppling last week's victor, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on the Xbox 360. Nintendo also saw games such as Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Resort climb back up, claiming the No.3 and No.4 spots on the Individual Formats sales Top 40 list. Other Nintendo games heading upwards as we approach Christmas include Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games for Wii, Mario Kart Wii,

Below is Chart-Track's blurb overview of the week's sales:

Activision Blizzard remain victorious with ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’ retaining No1 for a third week, despite a sales drop of a further 32%. There’s not much movement with the rest of the chart as Ubisoft’s sequel ‘Assassin’s Creed II’ spends a second week in second place, followed again by Nintendo’s ‘New Super Mario Bros. Wii’ at No3. EA’s ‘FIFA 10’ bounces back to No4 and Nintendo’s ‘Wii Fit Plus’ keeps a steady pace at No5. It’s Nintendo again at No6 with ‘Wii Sports Resort’ and Sega’s ‘Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games’ moves up one place to No7. EA’s ‘Left 4 Dead 2’ drops a place to No8 and Microsoft’s ‘Forza Motorsport 3’ holds it’s position at No9. Codemasters’ ‘F1 2009’ moves up the grid and rounds of the Top Ten at No10.

I've noticed that MW2 PC version has dropped incredibly sharply in sales, whilst PS3/360 versions are still towards the top of the charts.

Methinks the negativity has hit the PC version.

I think pc games are just more prone to pirated copies. The easier they are to get and download, the easier they are to be dropping sales wise.

Well there's that, and then there's the fact that the PC version has been gimped by IW and lacks features that all previous games in the series have had.

Ironically enough these measures were partly taken to avoid piracy. And look how much good that did.

One day I will be a real life anime.

Don't forget, there's also Steam, which doesn't account for this I'm assuming since it's all downloadable. I know a ton of people that just bought it from Steam.

I didn't think I would enjoy NSMBWii but it reminds me of an actual old school hybrid of SMB3 and SMW. I love it.

Mario, Mega Man and Rayman FTW!!!
