Square Enix has released new footage from the upcoming Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles adventure on Wii, The Crystal Bearers.

We're taken into a future Crystal world, where guns have dominated swordplay and magic is only given to a select few - the Crystal Bearers. The mystical Yuke race seems to have died out, but that isn't quite the full story...

I'm gonna feel bad if I don't get this, but there are just too many other games coming out this month and next (namely Silent Hill, Zelda, Sands of Destruction, No More Heroes 2 and The Sky Crawlers) for me to afford 'em all, and the quality of this game still seems up in the air. (I mean, I doubt it'll be HORRIBLE, the question is whether it'll be worth $50)

I think I might actually get this, it looks really fun with all the manipulation of the environment and all. It could be a nice adventure game.

From the short time I had with the Japanese version, working through the gimmicky intro sequences and wandering around the first location, this has gone WAY down in my anticipation stakes. I'll hold off proper judgement until I get hands-on with the US build, but the intro bits just felt like annoying mini-games. NOT the best start to a game...

It also doesn't bode well that the team behind this isn't the normal FFCC team - it's the people behind the ropey Code Age Commanders for PS2 Smilie
