With the release of Mario's latest 2D platformer on the Wii, his creator Shigeru Miyamoto recently reflected on giving birth.

The famous designer explains how Mario started as a generic carpenter character who battles his pet ape that's kidnapped his girlfriend, moving onto the smarter looking chap we know today.

Miyamoto also describes how he forges ideas, mainly through experiences in his childhood and daily walkabouts - trying to be unique and different, as opposed to attempting to "1up" a competitor, starting trends instead of following them.

I don't really like the light the host casts Miyamoto in at first. Smilie

You'd probably give birth to yourself 1000 times over until you sprout wings to fly away into the fading sun, that or you'd just turn into a lesbian. Who knows @_@ - L, 12/06/09
