DSi Executive and Living Were Prototypes Names

The latest edition of Iwata Asks over in Japan has revealed some interesting and fairly boring prototype names for the DSi XL.

The super-sized DSi XL with bacon and cheese had its fair share of alternative names that could have made it to retail - including "DSi Comfort", "Premium", "Executive" and "Living", seeming to gun for the older, more casual gamer. Miyamoto also had some input, apparently wanting to name it "DSi Deka", deka meaning "large" in Japanese.

The DSi LL or XL as it's known in the west is Nintendo's answer to those who have trouble with the current screen size of the standard DS or DSi models - boasting an overall larger frame, bigger panels and a chunky pen-like stylus to do the business.

A larger DS Lite, with 3.8" screens, was the hardware basis for the XL - it was never released but with demands for improved visibility was combined with the DSi and reborn.

    Thanks to VG247 and Siliconera.

Do you like the name "DSi XL"? Would you have preferred something different?

DSi Deka sounds pretty awesome. It also translate to 10x in the metric system.

But honestly, I would've preferred if it were called "The New DSi Which STILL Doesn't Have a GBA Slot But Now Lets You Squint Less And Makes It Easier On Babies With Little Hand-Eye Coordination".

Maybe I'm being frumpy, but the DSi is STILL NOT worth the buy to me.
It requires great courage to look at oneself honestly, and forge one's own path.
