    PAL Nintendo Channel Catches up with US

    Nintendo's dedicated Wii channel that provides media updates and game recommendations has seen an update in Europe and Australia.

    North American fans received their upgraded version back in September, complete with weekly digests and other fancy features, however Europeans and Aussies were left with the ol' interface. As well as a tidier and friendlier look, users can select and recommend Wii and DS games with the added bonus of housing and sharing all your game playtimes.

    Whilst we don't get Nintendo's weekly digest (which arguably may be a good thing), UK folks will continue to be dazzled by Ian Lee's good looks in the Nintendo Channel's monthly recap.

    Thanks to Modplan Man for the tip.

    What do you think of the new interface and features? Do you use the channel at all - what could Nintendo do to improve the experience?

    Much improved.
    Slicker and more usefull.

    Still a few features Id like to see;
    a) Search by Co-Op gameplay.
    b) A larger database's of DS demos.

    (so people can play stuff like Soul Bubbles, or less popular games that still deserve sales)

    It's much better designed. They REALLY need to combine this with the Shop Channel or at the very least give the Shop Channel the same treatment.

    It's nice that they're still adding new DS demos.

    Yeah the Shop Channel is in really desperate need of an update... especially speed wise.

    I thought it was pretty cool but the reccommended titles list is a bit ridiculous sometimes. Metroid Prime Trilogy at the top? Mario Galaxy below fucking Animal Crossing? o.0;

    One day I will be a real life anime.

    Pity we don't get the Higher Quality Video options the other updates do, but since my Broadband is shite I don't mind. Nice update in general. Smilie

    You can, theres a stats list for that.
    Says how many times its been run, plus how long for.

    eg. My Metroid Trillogy is 21 times, total of 60ish hours.

    Yeah, I noticed the video quality is crap.

    Apparently I've spent ofver 171 hours on the internet channel, 75 hours on brawl, and 60 hours on Twilight princess, everything else is 30 hours or less.

    I liked the Ninty news thing, although they only made one and the jokes were crap.

    A lot sleeker, looks very nice - presented very well yet very accessible and interesting.

    On the whole the shop and channel are getting there, slowly, demos are a great thing to have - but are so standard that Nintendo really need to have demos as a continually updated feature. This whole \"limited time\" garbage is nonsense - have a demo button on WiiWare/DSiWare/VC games and let gamers have a bigger range to try before we buy. Even if it\'s a time thing, 5/10 minute limit it\'ll still be a good thing to have.

    Wii Shop definitely needs videos and more images - very hard to tell unless you\'re clued up and know where to look on the net. Would be so much easier to have it to hand then to wander over and Google \"Game trailers for X\"

    I think the Wii really needs more of a \"hub\" approach - I do like channels and how easy it is to choose things and organise your games/apps but having a sidebar or tab of recently updated videos, featured WiiWare/VC games, some news and things like that would be very handy - like an updated version of the Message Board.

    Doesn\'t have to be as content-heavy as the 360 dashboard, but somewhere inbetween would be ace!
