Nibris's long awaited horror title, Sadness, may seem like a blur to many. Nibris still state the game will be released next year. Although it's unlikely that will be the case. The game has been delayed countless times and there has not been much media released on it.
However a member on You Tube has recently uploaded music, which is supposedly from the game.

Do you still believe Sadness is still in development?

Sadness is still around?
Anyway, I thought this was the theme:

I like the concept/artwork/music but I have a feeling that the actual videogame will be terrible. I wish this was a movie rather than a Wii game.

I very much doubt this game will ever be released... i'm sure it's been on the docket since around 2005

It may get a release but you have to wonder if you take into consideration different publishers have picked it up and then dropped it with no comment about why.

I must admit, I mentally read this more as
"Frustrated musician who's work will never been heard otherwise releases music"
Its not that I critize Nibris for failing, taking so long or aiming so high. But they showed of stuff when they had nothing. Built hype before they had substance.
Fortunately those looking forward to Sadness now have Cursed Mountine, which is actually pretty decent and out now.

Hm, pretty good. It sounds very much Akira Yamaoka-inspired.
Wait, I mean, WHY??? WHY DOES THE INTERNET CONTINUE TO TAUNT ME WITH RUMORS OF SADNESS??? WHY CAN'T I JUST LET THE HEARTBREAK FADE???? Why does it haunt me?????

One publisher picked it up, one dropped it. Just one.
Not sure what the fate of the game is. When it first was announced, it seemed like they were gearing the game toward being among the first to take fulla dvantage of the motion controls. They've long since missed that deadline. If the game still exists, I'd wager Nibris has spent most of this time trying to find a different focal point for the game.
If the game is dead, I don't think I've ever seen a company fight so hard to get people to believe otherwise... maybe Duke Nukem Forever. But look at Resident Evil 4; it got completely scrapped and re-started three times before it came to be what we all know and love, and that was under a major company like Capcom, which Nibris definitely isn't.
They're an indie studio, they're probably just going to take a lot longer to get their stuff together.
I will say this: If the game does come out, Nibris should hope it'll be something quite extraordinary.
If you like fantasy horror fiction, please check out a short story I wrote, called "Hole."

It's completely free to download. If you enjoy it, please also check out a collection called "Dark Things." This one is $.99, but the first two stories are free.

The latest official news, according to Nibris's sponsor Fog Studios, is that the game does exist, but currently needs a publisher. I really hope one picks it up, but given the game's track record, you can imagine that many might be hesitant...
If delaying the game again and again is necessary to create a game that's as good as they've made it sound, then I'm all for it. I just which they would be a little less secretive about it, at least to the extent that would-be fans don't feel like they're following a ghost. At the very LEAST, they could update their website that promises they'll be at GDC 2008...

Aarghh !!
Every time I try and forget about this game, something comes along to give that flicker of hope ..
I was tracking this game since early 2006 and with others on a fansite (long closed down now), had several exchanges with the company on this game.
Interestingly, the composer Nibris told us they had hired was Piotr Rubik - quite a known Polish Composer - well known in the fact that he has his own Wiki page !! ... so he must be good ..
Yet these two tracks are by a different composer .. hmmm
I do hope this game is going to see the light of day - the story, the setting and the slavic mythology was really interesting - so was the Eternal Darkness \"elements\" of insanity. I recall they had 3 psychologists working with them at the time ..
Damn! Now my hope is restored somewhat .. hahah
BTW - there was never a publisher for Sadness. There was discussion on Europe publishing rights, but nothing for any other territory. Fog Studios was/is still looking for publishers.
Also, you must understand that they are a VERY small company - 10 employees I believe who were very passionate about this game .. so of course they are going to discuss it (mainly on forums much like this one). A lot of the coding/design was outsourced as you probably know and I also believe that due to a lot of their own inexperience, they were quite difficult to work with ... which may explain why nobody has picked up the game yet ??
N-Europe did an interview with one of the scriptwriters some time earlier this year. The chap gave quite an insight into how they worked .. or \"not\" worked as it turned out .. :/

This music was made by Arkadiusz Reikowski, he's got a site here: www.arkadiuszreikowski.com and indeed, he was working on Sadness from what I can see on his site..
