SEGA Offer Wii Virtual Console Christmas Discounts

In getting into the Christmas spirit, SEGA of Europe and SEGA of America have donned gigantic Santa hats and announced that, for a limited period of time, a number of their Wii Virtual Console titles will be reduced in price. A festive sale, in other words.
The deal struck up between Nintendo and SEGA means that their best-selling titles on the download service will have 40% shaved off them between Thursday 24th December 2009 and Wednesday 6th January 2010. If you thought those 800 point titles felt a bit too heavy on your virtual coin purse, they're now magically 500 points for that time period - but for that time period only, so don't delay.
The following Mega Drive/Genesis classics are part of this offer:
- Sonic The Hedgehog
- Sonic The Hedgehog 2
- Sonic The Hedgehog 3
- Gunstar Heroes
- ToeJam & Earl
- Puyo Puyo 2
- Shining Force
- Golden Axe
- Altered Beast
- Streets Of Rage 2
This is the first deal of its kind on Virtual Console - if this goes well, perhaps we can look out for more discounts on the service in the future!

Wow, I'm actually really surprised about this. Not about SEGA, but Nintendo actually letting them do it!
SEGA are making a similar deal on PSN for PS3 and PSP, including Sonic Unleashed/2006 DLC being 40% off. So chances are SEGA will be doing the same for XBL users too.
One day I will be a real life anime.

If this was 'discount on games that appeared on the Sega consoles' I would be interested. These ones do not. Well the ones I know.

It is indeed. Still, we have no idea what that will turn out like. It could turn out a really shoddy port like Sonic Genesis on GBA >>

Gunstar Heroes, Streets of Rage 2 and Shining Force are definitely worth the new $5 price.
Funny, I saw about the PSN sale and tought: can you imagine if Nintendo allowed something like this on Wiiware or VC? I woudl think that sales would pick up not only on the discount titles but on others as well since everytime there is a sale on PSN or XBLA you end up picking up a game not on sale because you're already there or noticed a game you forgot had released (as for me, I'll be getting the Valkyria Chronicles DLC on sale).
Best of luck to Sega. Hopefully sales of all Sonic games on PSN, XBLA or VC will make them see what type of Sonic game we want next...
