THQ has confirmed that is has now secured the WWE license for a further eight years. Following speculation that the company may lose out on the lucrative franchise, the THQ and World Wrestling Entertainment have finally put pen to paper and signed a new deal that sees the publisher retain the rights to creating video games based on the WWE property for a further eight years, commencing 1st January, 2010. As a part of the THQ and JAKKS Pacific legal saga that had been rumbling on for a while now, THQ has paid WWE US$13.2 million.

"This agreement ensures that WWE games will continue to be an important cornerstone of THQ’s annual release schedule for the long term. We look forward to working directly with WWE to expand their brand in the video game space through continued game play innovation and increased online delivery of WWE content."
    - Brian Farrell, THQ President.

"As one of the most successful video game brands, WWE is excited to work directly with THQ to translate WWE’s colourful characters and ever-changing content into exciting and fresh video games for our fans."
    - Donna Goldsmith, WWE Chief Operating Officer.

Are readers happy that THQ is to continue with the license or would another company been preferred?
