High Offender Hospital Receives 22 Wiis

High-security psychiatric hospital Broadmoor has received a set of 22 Wiis, courtesy of UK taxpayers, to be used for exercise/rehab.

According to CVG, £5000s worth of Wii consoles have been setup in the hospital for the likes of the "Yorkshire Ripper" to enjoy. A spokesperson for the hospital said the consoles were installed to increase exercise with games such as Wii Fit and EA Sports Active.

When you think of their crimes and the misery they have caused, you have to ask if it's right for society to pay to entertain them.

What do you think of the move? Surely over 20 consoles is far too much - and should prisoners really be treated to such luxuries at the public's expense?

22 Wiis is nothing compared to the expenses made to treat even 1 guy for a week there.
Even the death penalty is quite expensive apparently.

Maybe they made a deal with Nintendo though, 22 Wiis in exchange for exclusive inspiration for a new mature game?

    I mean:

Yeah, fuck those criminals! DIE DIE DIE! Don\'t spend a penny on them, let them rot in a cell with only each other to eat and let them drink their own urine! That\'ll teach em!

Aww. If I'd known I would have gone a bit mentle and killed someone. Then getting a Wii wouldn't have cost me anythong.

I wonder what else they get. Smilie

Yeah, they shouldn't really be having all three games consoles. Or even one.

Wii don't help in exercise. When will they learn this?

They know that. They probably have a really nice gym space with lots of equipment.

It does help in exercise, your burn considerably more playing (active) Wii games and your arm musscles get a considerable amount of usage over regular games.

What it dosnt do is the equivalent of a Gym, or regular walks, or any other "normal" methods of exercise.

Still better then watching tv, playing normal games or reading though.

Also, I personaly dont see anything wrong with this at all. Its not healthy to dismiss people as sub-human without any hope of rehabilation, and if you do that you might as well just kill them all anyway.
If you accept them as human, on the other hand, the cost of 20 Wii's is tiny and could encourage them to stay a little bit more active during their confinement as well as, yes, enjoying themselves a fraction more.
Treating people like dirt rarely results in them, or society, getting better.
