    Castlevania Collection for Nintendo Wii?

An interesting rumour has appeared that points towards a Castlevania Collection coming to Nintendo's Wii. According to an anonymous source, Konami is set to capitalise on the interest surrounding its long-running series that will no doubt reach fever-pitch when the Hideo Kojima-led project 'Castlevania: Lords of Shadow' hits PS3 and Xbox 360 later this year.

Along with the planned Virtual Console release of previously Japanese-only Rondo of Blood, a collection of classic Castlevania releases is set to launch on both Wii and PSP, with the NES and SNES games being included, as well as the legendary PSone game Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Unfortunately the same source believes the handheld adventures and N64 games will not feature.

Is a collection of old Castlevania games something that appeals to readers, or will the current Virtual Console releases suffice?

This is a great idea. Rebirth is void of all that made the series great, that WiiWare series so far is a collection of bland soulless churn outs. I'm all for this.

Depends. If they're just direct ports, I'm not too interested, the NES games have aged badly. If they're spruced up a bit, or even remade Metroid Zero Mission style, then I'm definitely interested.

I'd dig that. If the PSP and Wii versions are the same, though, I'll probably be inclined to go with the handheld.

I've only played Roms of this game. If they came out with some on the Wii, I'd keep a sharp eye on it. I'd probably wishlist this like I have most of them.

Sounds likely. Most people don't think of Castlevania as a Nintendo series, but almost all the games have been released on Nintendo systems.

I'm such a sucker for these collections. I already have both Mega Man collections and the Sega Genesis collection for PS2. If this actually happens, it will find its way into my collection.

I would love to see some of the original gameboy Castlevania's included. The early ones are pretty hard to track down and they are the only Castlevania games I've never played.

Mmm, do Symphony of the Night in Widescreen, have all the games display at 480p, include a universal Sound Test Mode and you have my $50 even if I already own Castlevania I-III on the NES, Symphony on PSX and Castlevania IV on VC... just for the convenience and to show Konami we want more 2D Castlevania on consoles. Can you imagine a Castlevania done with the sprite quality of Muramasa or Wario Land: Shake It?

I still have to track down a copy of the Megaman X Collection and the Metal Slug Anthology since I can find it anywhere, so you know I like this type of $$$ decisions...

Sounds awesome! Don't get too excited though, guys. Rumours come and go, all the time. As a huge Shenmue fan, I have seen lots of rumours come to nothing. Here's hoping, though! I've got Symphony of the Night on my 360, I reckon y'all would like it. I want to get Super Castlevania for my SFC.
