Update - The full interview is now live on Cubed3 and can be read here.
Original Story - Could Little King's Story head to DS, and Moon Remix RPG make a return? There is a definite possibility, according to Yoshiro Kimura of Marvelous Entertainment. Cubed3's Adam Riley recently caught up with the former Love-de-lic developer to discuss Little King's Story, a game he worked as Director and Producer on for Marvelous. In the interview, which will be publised on Cubed3 later today, the topic of a future Little King's Story was brought up. As well as confirming there is already a concept in place for a sequel, Kimura-san revealed that a portable version may well be possible as well.
Cubed3's Adam Riley: Do you feel the idea of LKS could be replicated on Nintendo DS and would you consider making a portable version to offer the game to an even wider audience?Yoshiro Kimura-san: LKS on DS, huh? That sounds like fun. So yes, I'd like to think it's possible. But in that sense I'd like to consider the possibility on all the platforms. To tell you the truth, until recently I thought it would be difficult to do on a handheld device. However, I came up with an idea that might work well as a handheld RTS action game...
Additionally, an off-topic question was thrown into the mix about a couple of Kimura-san's past projects, Moon Remix RPG and Chulip. Moon Remix RPG, from the PlayStation in 1997, was the first game by Love-de-lic, a Japanese team consisting of several developers that had worked on Squaresoft Super Nintendo games such as Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, Live-A-Live and the Hanjuku Hero games, whilst Chulip is another graphic adventure RPG, this time from on the PS2 and a title that did eventually receive a US release.
Below is what Kimura-san had to say about the idea of resurrecting his past projects in the hope of bringing them to the masses in today's market:
Cubed3's Adam Riley: Yoshiro Kimura, you previously worked on cult hits like Moon and Chulip. Do you have any wishes to bring these Lovedelic’s and Punchline's games back for the new generation, perhaps teaming up with the guys at Vanpool, or Kenichi Nishi at Route24/Skip Ltd. again?Yoshiro Kimura-san: Hello, I'm the perennial drunk, Kimura! I still go drinking with Kudo-san at Vanpool and Nishi-san at Route24 so if some fun ideas come up we might end up creating a game together. So with some luck we might be able to do something *laughs*
I still love the Lovedelic era and Punchline era. Once in a while I do think about how much fun it will be to play those games on the current consoles. If we make it, will everyone play it? If there's a whole lot of users that love or want to play them on the new systems then we might bring it over...maybe I should use Twitter and start asking "Does anyone want to play MOON?" "Would anyone like to play CHULIP?"
For anyone wanting to find out more about what makes Moon Remix RPG so special, they should definitely check out this in-depth article on the game.
The full interview with Yasuhiro Wada and Yoshiro Kimura will appear on Cubed3 later today. In the meantime, why not take another look at Cubed3's review of Little King's Story to see why it is one of the best Wii games available.
Would you like to see Little King's Story appear on DS, or see Moon Remix RPG remade and finally released in English?
