Netflix and Nintendo Finally Partner up on Wii

DVD rental giant and Nintendo have finally announced a partnership on the Wii, with the service coming to the console this spring.

With the Wii being a family-friendly machine, having a streaming film and TV rental service would make sense - the BBC even launching their own channel back in November 2009. Netflix and Wii did make sense, but both companies have kept quiet - until now.

This spring Netflix will launch on Wii, letting users stream a huge collection of films and tv episodes over the 'net by running a disc (presumably with Netflix software) each time. Users will be charged $8.99 per month to use the service.

It requires great courage to look at oneself honestly, and forge one's own path.

Apparently, the reason for the disc is because Microsoft has an exclusive deal with Netflix for disc-less streaming. PS3 also requires a disc.

I'm semi-excited for this. NOt sure it's worth it for myself, though. I don't have control of the family Netflix account.
Hopefully this will work better than the videos from Nintendo Channel... I can't get those to not stop every ten seconds, no matter what I do.

It's completely free to download. If you enjoy it, please also check out a collection called "Dark Things." This one is $.99, but the first two stories are free.

My usenet is cheaper. They will only succeed if they make it easier than the alternatives, so we'll see... what will happen in the rest of the world regarding netflix?
