Mature Wii Games to Don Black Cases in Japan on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

To distinguish mature (CERO C/15+) games in Japan, Nintendo will be using black cases instead of the usual white/red options.

Image for Mature Wii Games to Don Black Cases in JapanThe upcoming Zangeki no Reginleiv will be the first to ship in the new black box, after other 15+ titles - like Resident Evil, No More Heroes and Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers - sold in the regular white box.

The move comes in addition to large CERO stickers emblazoned across the box and on store shelves - to try and scream to parents that the contents will not be suitable for their young'uns. Games, films and other media aren't required to come in distinguishable boxes, so it looks as if Nintendo will be starting a trend for other publishers.

So, by that logic, does that mean that the Black Wii was made for playing Mature games?

It requires great courage to look at oneself honestly, and forge one's own path.

The black looks way cooler, so if anything it is going to attract younger gamers to the cases.

Still won't stop people buying the games only makes them look cooler

They should have made them broccoli green. It would subconsciously repel younger gamers.

Nah, too bright a color. What they should color them is grey. No child loves grey.

All I have to say is: That box specifically looks BADASS.

Period.

Didn't the GC come in black boxes or was it different in japan? It strikes me as odd because black doesn't mean bad, they should have made it pink instead

The gamecube boxes were clear in japan, smaller and add a cardboard thingie around it with the game illustration on it.

It's a nice idea but as said, it will only make kids notice which games are mature easier and want them more, just like every kid wants to watch the latest 15 or 18 rated movies. But it's definitely a distinguishable guideline that parents can't moan about as much.

They should put yellow stripes on it, and have, "Hazard/Hachem- Nuclear Device"

But anyway, looks nice, deffinately a good, distinguishable choice, since black it the complete opposite of white.

Ok ok so like Ps3 cases then?

A black case only makes it cooler, so I assume that's what they want. They don't want to repel younger gamers with this, only attrackt older ones.

Too bad the game looks like crap so far.

Haha I agree. Kids go for the cool looking things these days.

I do like the black though and I guess it will help in differentiating between the more casual games and the mature content. Too bad I don't expect to see that much black boxes in the sea of white ones.
