In an interview with IGN, Kerry Ganofsky of High Voltage Software revealed that The Grinder is no longer Wii exclusive and will be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC during Halloween 2011. They say that this is to show off the company's abilities with high production games.

IGN: Is the plan still to keep Grinder a Wii exclusive?

Kerry Ganofsky: Our secret is out! Grinder is no longer a Wii exclusive. We plan to ship on Xbox 360, Sony PS3, and PC as well.

Eric Nofsinger: Bringing our third internal IP to all the current-generation systems allows us to show off what our company can really do and get it into the hands of the most gamers.

A new trailer of the game was revealed on the website, revealing the new release date. Check it out here.

With over 350,000 units sold High Voltage Software say elsewhere in the interview that they are "extremely proud of the sales of The Conduit".

With The Grinder now going multiplatform, do you still have high hopes for this game? What do you think of the new trailer and release date?

Bad move, High Voltage. The only reason anybody cared even a little bit about The Conduit was because it was on the Wii. Now they can watch as their game becomes just one more in the sea of mediocre shooters already available for the other consoles.

I agree. This game won't be worth much on the other systems, considering it's being made with the Wii in mind, AND with a 2011 relese date? Wtf? Left 4 Dead 6 will be out, by then, and nobody with a PC or Xbox will care at all about this game.

Oh well, I'm still extremely psyched for this game, as are a lot of Wii owners, I'm sure. HVS has never been a one-system company, so it's no diss or surprise, here. Hopefully, they take the money they'll earn from this and continue to make great games for, hopefully, the Wii.

    Edit: But wait:
    "
Kerry: There were a variety of issues that impacted the Conduit. We are focusing on fixing those issues that we have control over in our future games. For those issues that we cannot control, we are working hard with our partners to ensure the best possible experience for gamers.
    "

I.e. "Nintendo, get off your asses and fix the Conduit glitches?" Maybe the fact that Nintendo is holding them back from delivering what they want and what the fans want had a hand in The Grinder going to the other systems?

Makes perfect sense. Absolutely no reason for exclusives anymore. They are a small dev and FPS by third parties have really strong sales on the HD platforms. The majority of the gameplay can be easily mapped onto a dual analogue controller.

Seems a fine move to me.
Plus with an extended development period, the games probably going to be great.
High Voltage has the best wii engine, and generaly actualy -tries- to give Wii owners what they want in terms of features.
That makes them better then 90% of developers, and they can only get better with each game released.

    Good move, High Voltage.

Now the game has to compete with the big guns on the market. Competition is good, it leads to a better product.

The trailer is moody, but obviously uses Wii graphics. I'm also glad that they have more than vampires and werewolves now.

Disappointed here, was really looking forward to this but wii're probably going to end up with a raw deal now, unless they make the other two versions DLs then they may keep limitations to Wii specs.

Unless the Wii version is still the lead one and then they port over to the others, then yeah, they've just lost my purchase. I got the Conduit on launch and liked the story mode and the multiplayer... until one out of every 3 matches I needed to reset the game because I spawned in a wall. You can't blame Nintendo for this, blame HVS for not bug-testing their game.

Will The Grinder sell more? Well if logic is sound it should since it will be available in more systems but that has sometimes backfired. What was once a Wii exclusive on a system made for FPS is now a game that will compete not only with CoD but with Resistance, L4D, Killzone, AvP, Bioshock 1 and 2, Call of Juarez, DOOM and Wolfstein, to name a few. Good luck.

I don't understand why you dweebs have an issue with this. The Conduit sucked balls, and The Grinder stands to lose nothing by being released for other platforms.

    A few things:

    1. You can combat spawning in a wall by holding the control stick up and repeatedly pressing A as soon as the game says you have a match. It won't work every time, but it works roughly 85% of the time.
    2. Should you get stuck in a wall, don't reset. If you just wait it out, you won't be stuck again unless you enter a different match. I've also found that for whatever reason, if I turn the game off without disconnecting first, I get stuck in walls moer often.
    3. The glitches have been submitted to Nintendo, they haven't fixed.

Given the Wii one has been in development longer, and its being made on a wii-centric engine, of course its the lead one!

Just like the conduit, so original, so innovative! No wonder it sold millions aye? This won't prob get anywhere... If I had a 360 and saw this I'd choose L4D.

Yeah, it's really difficult to dumb down an entire genre.

Wow, another first person shooter, how original.
Wow, another find-an-item-in-a-dungeon and then use said item to be the dungeon boss game, how original.
Wow, another game where the characters beat the crap out of each other, how original.
Wow, another game where you solve puzzles to advance, how original.

Wow, another post containing a complaint with no effort put into it. How original.
