Metroid Other M Wii - New Screens on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo have popped up new screenshots from the upcoming Wii collaboration with Team Ninja, Metroid Other M.

The side-scroller takes Samus back to her side-on roots in a refreshing 3D style, combining some of the first person elements found Samus's adventures in Retro Studios's Metroid Prime trilogy.

Co-creator Yoshio Sakamoto, along with 3 designers from the GBA games, are assisting the studio with the project, looking to incorporate his vision for "3D Metroid" and delving deeper into the bounty hunter's mysterious life.

Metroid: Other M will hit US soil on 27th June.

I think I need some new underwear.

Personally I think it looks great, although a bit empty.

Seems a bit patchy to me. (purely graphic wise).
I know they are going for a more saturated/colourfull look then Retro's games, but its got a bit too much of a "pasted on" look to me. The enviroment doesnt seem as seamless.

*waits to see it more in motion*

This game looks so awesome!

The top image looks like Samus is fighting some sort of hologram creature.

I wonder how the squad based play will work (as it appears you will be working with others at least for some part of the game).

Defo see what you mean Darkflame, does seem a bit plasticy/stuck on, definitely one that would look better in motion methinks ye. Shaping up nicely, and with Yoshio Sakamoto's help it looks to be a genuine Metroid experience!

Good graphics, yeah the game would look better in motion.

I'm not impressed by the visuals, they look basic to me. I find it looks a bit empty and dull, as well.

I'm sceptical about it.

Hope I like this as I didn't really like any of the prime games. Although the gameplay looks interesting, looking forward to seeing it in motion Smilie

I don't really like the graphics. The models look like toys or action figures. On top of this, I'm not sure how they are going to pull off 1st person when all you use is the Wiimote. I'll have to trust Nintendo and Team Ninja for now, since I doubt they'll screw up a game like this.

Im gunna pull the pessismism card here, i think i'm gunna be heavily dissapointed by this game!

It looks like Xmen Legends to me! Lol...

I hope they put some more organic environments like Super Metroid-style Brinstar overgrown with vegetation =).

Im confused. Is this a pure side scrawling game i.e left and right only. with a few point and shoot areas.

Basically, yes. Although almost certainly with non-liner levels. (ie, junctions, up/down exploration etc).

I imagine the first person bits will be very similar to the sections in shadow complex when you mounted a gun.

-Have you any idea what it's like to be a Fembot living in a Manbot's Manputer's world?
-What?
