New details from Square Enix's latest Dragon Quest instalment for Wii have trickled in, including a customisable tournament feature.

Dragon Quest Monsters Battle Road Victory is the studio's answer for bringing the highly crazed arcade formula to the home format, including multiplayer Wi-Fi battles and all the trading card loving a Dragon Quest fan could hope for.

One of the major draws with the arcade edition are the data cards, and so to bring the system to the Wii there'll be a mobile application for scanning on both the DSi and mobile phones - we wouldn't recommend shoving the cards inside your Wii!

According to Andriasang you'll also be able to flex your creative muscles by making a character to freely explore a city known as Ryujincho. Within these walls you’ll use your Wii remote as a sword in a variety of mini-games and challenges.

Dragon Quest Monsters Battle Road Victory is storming stores across Japan this summer.

They COULD release this over here and sell virtual card packs with a higher than usual card count in exchange for Wii Points (200 points for an 8 card pack for instance) and see how it goes from there.

I definitely think if Dragon Quest IX proves popular in the West, we'll quickly see this and DQM: J2 on DS, followed by DQVI for DS and perhaps DQX early next year on Wii.

I've added a load of new screens, by the way Smilie

Still wish they'd do Dragon Quest Swords 2 using MotionPlus...
