The next iteration of the Rock Band series will feature keyboards. According to reports the new instrument will take the form of a keytar.
Earlier this week it was confirmed that the next game would feature some form of keys, and according to Arstechnica, developer Harmonix will introduce the new accessory to look like the keytar, a popular option for those wanting to perform keyboards, especially in the '80s.
The report also states that peripheral specialist Mad Catz is being brought onboard the Rock Band 3 ship to create all the hardware for the new game and also offer up various bundles to different stores, for example a guitar bundle, drum bundle or for those wanting the complete setup, everything in a neat little package. It might be likely that Mad Catz may go a step further and create a new guitar that mimics the actual instrument a little closer.
As well as new peripherals, there's said to be a "pro" mode that will require players to offer up a better technique, possibly to let those who can actually play honour their skills in a game.
That said the report has yet to be confirmed by EA or Harmonix. More details are expected at E3 next month.
