Pokémon Black/White Arrive In Europe Spring 2011

It doesn't matter if you're Black or White - both versions of the next generation of Pokémon will be launching in Western territories in Spring 2011, exclusively on Nintendo DS. Developers GameFreak look to be attempting to make changes with the new editions: we have already seen altered viewpoints and more animation in battles.
To promote this announcement, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have revealed the main new Legendary Pokémon of the new games, who also act as cover stars to the games. Reshiram will be gracing the front of Pokémon Black, while Zekrom stands proudly on Pokémon White. Can anybody say yin and yang?
Your guess is as good as ours as to what they're meant to be, but we wouldn't like to run into them in a dark alley. Or a light one, for that matter.
There's also some extra footage up on the official Japanese Pokémon Black/White website, including a spot of wandering through the previously revealed city and some battles between the starter creatures. The music's unobscured too, unlike previous clips from TV show Pokémon Sunday, so your ears can wiggle happily at the delightful new tunes. Just click on the little 'New Stage' and 'Partners' buttons at the bottom of the page, then guide your cursor to the video camera icons.
We'll report more news on Pokémon Black/White as it comes. There's bound to be a lot before the Spring 2011 release in Europe and North America.

Inb4 Digimon.
I already think these >>> the Gen 3 and 4 cover legies, they look less robotic and more... supernatural, Reshiram looks almost angelic, and I've always wanted an angel inspired legendary.
I personally think these guys look fucking awesome.
Very sad to hear we'll be waiting a whole year for these, even though we were expecting it...
One day I will be a real life anime.

I don't see the Digimon resemblance. 
These games are looking great. I just hope the promise of a rebirth is seen more in the gameplay mechanics rather than just the aesthetics.
Edit: And I want these legies to actually be super-powered and more involved with the plot and not just a goal for the bad guys to catch and then another poke for you to catch. Give them more purpose!

Meh, honestly, the Dark one looks more Digi. And they barely look Digi at all.

Though this seems clearly based on yin/yang, for some reason it reminded me of Xenoblade/Monado. Zekrom design is quite machine-like compared to its opposite Reshiram which is more "divine" or "organic".
On a side note: Zekrom = Mewtwo + Palkia

See that's what I thought, I don't think the look much like Digi. Mewtwo looks way more Digi than these guys.

Very interesting observation
I think the themes and mythos for these games might be very interesting... I'm definitely getting Black version now, Reshiram looks angelic and epic and fffuuuu *-*
Also I don't think Zekrom is necessarily evil, I think it's more of a YinYang one can't exist without the other balance thing.

I'm still not convinced that Reshiram is for the Black Version and Zekrom is for the White. They may just be doing that so you see the pokemon against the backgrounds. Unless it specifically states it somewhere, it seems counter-intuitive to have a black pokemon for Pokemon White and vice-versa.
However, I think this almost confirms a new "Light" type with the two types being super-effective against each other. I'm taking a stab and that their secondary type is flying. Could be dragon, but Reshiram especially looks like a Flying type.

Dear god I hope not. A Light type would be completely pointless as pretty much no old Pokémon would be able to adopt it, plus it would be the most cliché mundane type addition imaginable.

Well some old ones could probably adopt it... like Ampharos or Lumineon perhaps. I'd say Lanturn too, but that already has dual-typage. Other than that I agree with you. :/ But I'm gonna guess that Reshiram is Psychic/Dragon and Zekrom is Dark/Dragon.
I dunno what I think of them. Not overly keen on either I guess, though Zekrom is kinda cool. They both look a bit too much like Palkia though.

Last I checked, Togepi was the definition of Light...then again...WHAT IF NORMAL TYPE HAS BEEN LIGHT ALL ALONG?! It would make sense, looking at Jiggly and Clef and Bunbun and Skit and...well, there.It requires great courage to look at oneself honestly, and forge one's own path.

Normal can't become Light, then Pokémon like Bidoof would be Light type.
And Togetic/Togekiss already have a dual type.

What I mean is that this "Normal" type has in a way been the "Light" type everyone has been looking for. Only, they call it "Normal". I don't mean they'd replace Normal with Light. Normal is non-elemental (basically). Ampharos, Togepi, and Volbeat/Illumise can be light types. Just replace the normal type with light for Togetic/Togekiss and we are good to go.
Honestly, for all you Light type haters out there, prepare to be disappointed.
In addition to Light, they could add another type. I would like to see a Cosmic type. A bunch of Pokemon could fit this, notably Clefairy and Solrock/Lunatone. Maybe even Deoxys. But whatever happens, even if they don't add any types, I would still like the game.

YES, I know that Normal is something like that. But Normal could symbolically represent the infinite potential of mankind due to the fact that man does not directly control nature around him. In of itself, in its purity for not dabbling in destructive magics, Normal is Light.

pretty...unique, but Latios/Latias still take the cake for best legendaries. Generation 3 itself had awesome legendaries (maybe not the Regi's but the rest are amazing)

I don't see any good reason for another type to be added now, not when the game is already so well balanced, and Gen V has connection to Gen IV aswell.
However unlike Light I actually think Cosmic (and Digital) is a good idea, it's more original. Light is so... unoriginal. Ugh. Really can't we just have Cosmic instead of Light?
If there is a new type (which I personally doubt) it has to be Super Effective against Electric, because them only having one weakness is a little annoying.

I dunno, I kinda like all the Gens equally when it comes to legies. Gen IV is kinda annoying with DiaPal and Heatran (seriouslywtf), but it also has awesome beastly legies like Giratina, and Shaymin is just cute.

If there'll be a new type, which I seriously doubt, it should nerf water type in some way and possibly dragon too. The game is just too centralized around those types now.
As for electric, they don't need another weakness unless Gamefreak starts to bulky them. Earthquake is everywhere and they are usually frail that it's not even funny.

Types aren't really balanced at all. Offensively, Surf and Earthquake are everywhere, so much that Gamefreak had to create an ability to negate ground moves. Defensively, grass, rock and fire types are never used (though there aren't too many fire types).
Grass could be super effective against a light type, or maybe even light types could not effect grass types. Light could be used both as angelic and solar, like flying being related to bird and air. Sunflora could evolve into a light type and be bumped up from the never-used graveyard light what they did with Togetic.
I'm just throwing ideas out here. The point is that they could do a lot by adding a new type.

There's a rumour, thanks to a voice actress, that Zekrom is part Dragon, part Electric. Seeing as it has a high chance of having Levitate due to its wings... Another annoying pokemon for SuperLink
