Natsume has announced that Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals will be released for the Nintendo DS this Autumn. The game will retail in the US for US$29.99.
Originally released in Japan via Square Enix back in February under the name of Estpolis: The Lands Cursed by the Gods, the game underperformed in many people's eyes, entering at No.16, selling only a third of its initial stock supply, equating to around 14,300 sales. It then dropped out of the Media Create Top 50 the following week, selling a mere 3,500 more copies before never being seen again. However, thanks to Natsume holding the rights to the Lufia brand from back in the days of the SNES, it appears to have been able to wrestle the game away from Square Enix and prevent the remake of Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals from languishing in Japan forever more, as has happened with countless Square Enix DS releases in the past couple of years.
Check out some trailers and information on the game below:
The Sinistrals, the four legendary harbingers of doom, are out to resurrect the ultimate evil and bring the world to its knees. It's up to the fiery monster hunter Maxim and his eclectic band of adventurers to put a stop to them once and for all. Their adventures will take them across an expansive world packed with dangerous enemies, powerful items, and diabolical puzzles.
We're elated that the beloved Lufia series will be making its triumphant return with Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals later this year. We know players are going to be excited about this title when they get their first peek at it at E3 next month."
