Lost Planet Topples Dragon Quest in Japan on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The Japanese sales data for the period of 17th-23rd May, 2010 has now been collated and this particular week saw the release of Lost Planet 2 across both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with the former edition claiming the No.1 spot from Square Enix's Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 on DS. The other big release of the week was the tweaked version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 in time for the World Cup, with World Soccer Winning Eleven 2010: Challenge of the Blue Samurai hitting all formats other than DS in Japan and the PS3 edition coming out top with sales of nearly 60,000 units, whilst the poor Wii version, despite receiving the highest score out of the bunch from Famitsu, could only scrape in at No.15 with lowly sales of ~8,000 units. Elsewhere, Konami's reboot of the Captain Tsubasa franchise has been a success, with the game performing better than several previous releases in the football adventure series; Captain Tsubasa: Gekitou no Kiseki entered at No.13 with sales of around 12,400 units.

Check out all the available data below, as well as the hardware numbers, with totals given for the PSP and DS families, as well as individual format sale breakdowns:
